Official Launch of Local Tourism Website

Austin man officially launches website (2TourAustin.net) this week in hopes of being a sort of "Ambassador" for Austin tourism. In the end, Surbaugh says he hopes the site will provide a singular online location to find everything Austin has to offer local residents as well as tourists. Ultimately, he hopes he will be somewhat an ambassador, promoting Austin, as the greatest city around. In his words, Austin has a lot to see and both citizens and visitors alike should know it. Austin, TX, July 11, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Last year Kevin Surbaugh and his wife decided they wanted to see what Austin had to offer. Having moved here after their August 2010 wedding. They found the Stevie Ray Vaughn statue online. Calling the the contact number, which was the Austin Tourism Board to find out more about this statue and others around the city, to their dismay the gentleman on the other end of the phone told them there were no other other statues. The Surbaugh's had a hard time believing this, and when they visited Vaughn's statue at Arboretum Shores they found other statuary/monuments in that location that had never been mentioned. So they began looking online in more detail. Finding others, but no comprehensive list that attempted to list them all. Which gave Mr. Surbaugh an idea. He would create a list, complete with pictures and information about each location. It wasn't long before they felt the site needed to include all the various attractions; including museums, murals, historic buildings, landmarks, architecture as well as statues. To date they have databased about 100 locations in their free time and have more than 300 they still plan to visit and document at the their website http://www.2TourAustin.net. The website continues to grow and even has a facebook fan page with nearly 100 fans. Surbaugh says, that the website also has sections to include annual events, hotels, restaurants and even churches broken down into geographic regions of the city (north, south, central, east and west). Today is the official launch of the website to the public. Surbaugh hopes by having an official launch that the public will take interest and be encouraged to contact him about places not currently on the site. Information on how to contact Surbaugh can be found on the website.
