Editorial Guidelines for The PR Lawyer Blog

Furia Rubel Communications maintains a public relations and marketing blog at www.ThePRLawyer.com. From time to time, we will accept relevant blog posts from guest bloggers. The guidelines are as follows: The PR Lawyer Blog Contribution Guidelines 1. Submissions are subject to review and approval of Furia Rubel Communications. 2. By submitting material to The PR Lawyer, you certify that the material is not protected by copyright and are the authors original thoughts, opinions, musings, writings, etc. 3. In submitting material to The PR Lawyer, you waive any future claim to ownership of that material. Once we have reviewed the information and posted it on The PR Lawyer, it will not be removed unless there is content that is grossly inaccurate. 4. Please indicate the topic of the submission clearly in the headline. 5. Submissions must be relevant to The PR Lawyers readership which is predominantly lawyers, legal marketers, legal administrators, paralegals, public relations practitioners, marketers and entrepreneurs. Submissions that are not relevant to The PR Lawyers readership will not be accepted. 6. Submissions should be the property of the author, factual, original, well crafted and free of grammatical and spelling errors. Submissions are more likely to be accepted if they are informative, easy to read, pithy and share the authors unique expertise. Including tips, casestudies, analysis, opinions and commentary is strongly encouraged. 7. Press releases, advertisements, promotional copy, blatant and excessive self-promotion, and materials for another companys SEO purposes only will not be accepted. 8. The PR Lawyer does not accept submissions that have been published in small form or in their entirety on other blogs, websites or in print. Only original, unpublished submissions will be accepted. 9. Submissions on topics that were previously blogged about on The PR Lawyer will not be accepted unless they contain new and unique insight, commentary based upon current events, or changes and trends in an industry. Please review The PR Lawyers archives prior to submitting a blog. 10. All submissions must contain appropriate language and subject matter, and not be inflammatory, in violation of any law, considered defamatory, libelous, or infringe on the legal rights of others, or otherwise inappropriate in nature. This is not an exhaustive list. Furia Rubel will make final determinations as to whether content violates these guidelines. 11. Guest bloggers offering insight on legal matters should keep in mind that not all of The PR Lawyers readers are attorneys. Please avoid the use of excessive legal jargon. 12. All submissions that express views of individuals beside the author must contain proper citation and / or the expressed written consent of the individual whose views are represented. Hyperlinks to quoted information must be embedded in the body of the submission when possible. All links should also be included at the bottom of submissions for Furia Rubels Copyright 2012. review and approval. Furia Rubel is not responsible for any blog content that is inaccurate or misrepresents the views of an individual who is quoted by a guest blogger. 13. All images or videos must either be the writers property or have the expressed written consent of the owner. 14. Furia Rubel does not provide compensation for guest blog posts. 15. Furia Rubel reserves the right to make any necessary changes when uploading guest blog posts. 16. Furia Rubel is not responsible for views expressed by guest bloggers, i.e. those who are not employed by Furia Rubel Communications, Inc. Furia Rubel reserves the right to refuse contributions that do not meet the above criteria or adhere to the standard ethical guidelines for publication. 17. Because of the volume of posts we receive, we cannot guarantee a response for all submissions. Only authors of approved submissions will be notified via e-mail. 18. The guest blogger shall indemnify and hold Furia Rubel, its employees, agents or independent contractors harmless against any claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses including, without limitation, reasonable attorneys fees in defending or compromising actions brought against Furia Rubel arising out of, or related to, the acts or omissions of guest blogger, in connection with matters arising as the result of a guest blog. Style / Format Guidelines 1. All posts must be submitted in Verdana, size 10 font, black. 2. Posts should be limited to no more than 500 words. 3. Please make sure that all posts are easy to read; avoid long blocks of text, compound sentence structure; overly verbose language, etc. 4. Please avoid capitalizing entire words in submissions. If adding emphasis please either use bold or italicize. 5. Please do not use fully justified or centered formatting in the body of submissions. All text should be left-justified. 6. The use of first person and second person pronouns is permitted, but the overall tone should be as professional and concise as possible. Irrelevant or excessive personal anecdotes will be removed for the sake of clarity and length. 7. All posts must include a by-line at the top of the post with the authors name, company name, e-mail address and telephone number. 8. All submissions should use the AP Style Guide. 9. All posts must include a list of five title tags for inclusion on the blog (please see the list of tags already posted on the blog). 10. All titles and posts should be keyword rich. 11. Please send all blog posts to gina@furiarubel.com with your name, contact information and a brief synopsis of the blog post. Guidelines for Hyperlinks in Submissions 1. Submissions should include quality hyperlinks but only when appropriate. Excessive use of hyperlinks will result in submissions not being accepted. 2. Websites to which blog copy is hyperlinked should load quickly, be polished, easy to read and easy to navigate, and contain accurate information. 3. Websites to which blog copy is hyperlinked should be well maintained and updated regularly. 4. Websites to which blog copy is hyperlinked should demonstrate credibility by providing author and source citations and contact information. 5. Websites to which blog copy is hyperlinked must contain appropriate language and subject matter, and not be inflammatory, in violation of any law, considered defamatory, libelous, or infringe on the legal rights of others, or otherwise inappropriate in nature. Links that violate this guideline will result in submissions not being accepted.
