An essential course for students wishing to enter the Telecommunications or Digital Reception Technology industries

Certificate II in Telecommunications cabling Incorporating Satellite and antenna training Australia is currently undergoing two major technology upgrades in relation to the new digital TV terrestrial and satellite transmission upgrade as well as the National Broadband Network (NBN). In order to do this Australia needs a new technical and well trained workforce. These changes will take place both in metro and regional Australia. Working in remote regional Australia has challenges that requires local knowledge and local participation to make these programs work. Over the next 24 months over 11,000 satellite systems need to be installed throughout regional WA, this project will be followed by the roll out of the NBN which will require large cabling and wireless systems to be installed. To help facilitate this Integracom with the support of the WA State Government have been awarded 120 fully funded positions and will be conducting training in Regional WA to up skill existing technicians and train new entrants to the industry. Course Outline: The course is made up of 3 key areas being: 1. 2. Introduction to Telecommunications work Sustainable work practices OH&S Basic electrical skills Hand and Power Tools Understanding networks Customer service Cabling License Indoor Cabling Outdoor Cabling Telephone and data connections 3. Satellites and Antennas Install a terrestrial antenna Install a satellite dish Use a signal strength meter Install reception equipment Repair cabling faults Alter an existing cabling job

Course Outcome Successful completion of this course will enable a student to work to install satellite systems and antennas in both domestic and light commercial units. The student will acquire a full open cabling registration (Cabling License) as well as a certificate of attainment for Digital Reception Technology that can be used to apply to become a Government Endorsed Installer.
