Overview
Windows

7 is the latest operating system developed by Microsoft, released in July 2009. The main goal behind windows 7 was being compatible with applications and hardware with which windows vista was not at the time. Hence, it was launched in less than 3 years after Vista.

1. Superbar
The

task bar has seen the biggest visual changes, where quick launch tool bar has been replaced with Superbar . Previous windows automatically decided the placement of each icon on the taskbar. This however allows user the control to rearrange, pin and locate frequently used items as per user.

Jump Lists
Jump

Listsnew in Windows 7take you right to the documents, pictures, songs, or websites you turn to each day. Each application has unique jump lists which correspond to the features unique to the application, such as files recently opened or common tasks.

Aero Peek

Aero Peek is used to take a quick look at other open windows without clicking away from the window you are currently working on. Point your mouse at a taskbar button, and thumbnail previews of any open windows associated with that button appear above the taskbar. If you want to open a window you are previewing, just click its thumbnail

Desktop Button By hovering the mouse over show desktop button, the user can view the desktop. This has been moved from left (Vista) to right corner ( in Windows 7).

2. Aero Snap

Windows can be dragged to the top of the screen to maximize them and dragged away to restore them. Dragging a window to the left or right of the screen makes it take up half the screen, allowing the user to tile two windows next to each other. Also, resizing the window to the bottom of the screen or its top will extend the window to full height but retain its width

3. Aero Shake
Using

Shake, you can quickly minimize all open windows on the desktop except the one you want to focus on. Just click the title bar of the window you want to keep open and drag (or shake) the window back and forth quickly, and the other open windows are minimized.

4. Virtual Hard drives


A Virtual

Hard Disk allows multiple operating systems to reside on a single host machine. This method enables developers to test software on different operating systems without the cost or hassle of installing a second hard disk or creating a separate partition on the disk. This feature is available only in Ultimate, Professional and Enterprise editions.

7 supports searching for documents beyond the users own PC, i.e. on the internet and other home group devices as well It also provides a preview of search results.

Limited

one-finger touch capability has been available in Windows for years. But Windows 7 is the first to fully embrace multitouch technology. We can zoom sliding our two fingers, and touch to open files, slide pictures, drag files, copy and do many more things.

Windows 7 provides many Tablet PC improvements for handwriting recognition, including: 1. Support for handwriting recognition, personalization, and text prediction in new languages. 2. Support for handwritten math expressions. 3. Personalized custom dictionaries for handwriting recognition., etc.

9. Improved Boot Performance


Boot

time is fast. On the same computer, Vista booted in approximately 80 seconds. Windows 7 booted in 50 seconds. That's about a 38% fast boot time with Windows 7 . Applications load faster. With Vista it took approximately 30 seconds. Windows 7 loaded in 20 seconds. The installation is faster than Windows Vista.

7 provides us with Ease Of Access center. It provides a convenient, centralized place to locate accessibility settings and programs to make your computer easier to use. It includes : 1.
