Teachers open the door. You enter by yourself. - Chinese Saying

What I Know . . .
Those who teach your classes desire that you learn. They want you to learn essential information in subjects they have studied and enjoyed for years. You will develop some of the skills which they have mastered, and acquire informed perspectives.

Using various teaching techniques, I seek to promote your learning and success. I seek to guide you, motivate you, and outline for you the body of knowledge to be learned.
I "teach," but only you can learn! Knowing what I expect of you may help you to maximize your learning opportunities.

I Expect You To . . .

What Will I Be Doing This Year?

Course Content You will be expected to learn concepts, strategies, and skills. You will create quality work, talk about your work, demonstrate your knowledge through different venues, ask questions, and learn through different modalities. You will be expected to complete nightly homework assignments for the duration of the school year. You will be consistently engaged in learning. You will be expected to master 7th grade english language arts standards and common core standards.

How Will I Be Graded?

You will be graded using a point system.

Each assignment, project, test, or homework assignment has a certain number of points possible. A test or project may be worth 100 points, while a quiz or homework assignment may be worth 20 points. To determine your individual grade, I will simply divide the number of points by the total possible points in a 9 week period.
That percentage will be assigned a letter grade using the following scale:
90 100 80 89 70 79 60 69 0 59 A B C D F

A late work pass means you may submit late work one class period after the original due date. In addition, you will be submitting the late work for a maximum of 75% of the original credit. After the first quarter, absolutely no late work will be accepted. At the teachers discretion, you may have the opportunity to recycle homework. Students who choose to recycle an assignment can earn up to half of the missed points. For example, if a student earns a 50 out of 100 points on an assignment, they may recycle to earn 25 points for a maximum of 75 total points. Recycling does not guarantee a student the
