Politics :- Those activities/behavior that are not part of ones specific job duties, and that influence, or try to influence, the distribution of advantages and disadvantages within the organization.

Legitimate Political Behavior:- Normal everyday politics.


Illegitimate Political Behavior :-Extreme political behavior that violates the implied rules of the game.

Process by which individuals select, organize, and interpret their sensory impressions in order to give meaning to their environment. Factors influencing perception:-

People perceive organizational politics in different ways. A seemingly normal activity for someone might be political for someone else. This varies from person to person. Political behavior, if not properly handled, can make or break an organization. Its very important to understand this as future managers so as to know how to deal with people and to maximize their efficiency.
