HUMILITY

Yet they are begging Him to accept this deed from them!
They are NOT looking at their deed. They are looking at WHO they were offering this deed to!

In the end everything is dependent on Allah s acceptance!

This is the behavior of the sincere believers, whom Allah described in His statement, And those who give that which they give (meaning, they give away voluntary charity, and perform the acts of worship)
yet, with their hearts full of fear (afraid that these good deeds might not be accepted of them). (23: 60) Surah Al Muminoon

Things to remember for our deeds to be accepted

1.Niyah/Sincerity
Acts of Ibadah: Ex. Salaat
2.According to Quran & Sunnah

Acts of Charity Ex.Sadaqa,donations,

3.Halal Income
Also for Hajj/Umrah

Be more anxious for your works to be accepted than for them (merely) to be done, for no accepted deed is small. Ali ibn Abu Talib 1. Sincerity/ Niyah

But if they had associated others with Allah, then worthless for them would be whatever they were doing. (Al-Anam: 88)

Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated that Umar said, "I heard Mohammad (SAW) say: "Verily, the reward of deeds depends upon the Niyyah (intentions) and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended." Therefore, every action that was not performed solely for Allahs Sake, is annulled and fruitless in this life and the Hereafter.

2. Importance of following Quran Sunnah 2.According to Quran & & Hadith/Sunnah

And whatsoever the Messenger (SAW) gives you, take it, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it), and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is severe in punishment. (Al-Hashr 59: 7)

Allah has also made the obedience of Rasoolullaah (SAW) in conjunction with obedience to Him: "And obey Allah and the Messenger, that ye may obtain mercy." [Surah Al-E-Imran 3:132]
We are asked by Allah (SWT) to answer any order by Rasoolullaah (SAW): "O ye who believe! give your response to Allah and His Messenger, when He calleth you to that which will give you life." [Surah Al-Anfal 8:24] Allah made the obedience of Rasoolullaah (SAW) an indication of the love of Allah (SWT: "He who obeys the Messenger, obeys Allah." [Surah An-Nisa 4:80] "Say: If ye do love Allah, Follow me: Allah will love you and forgive you sins." [Surah Al-E-Imran 3:31]

"Those who follow the apostle, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find mentioned in their own (Scriptures),- in the law and the Gospel;for he commands them what is just and forbids them what is evil; he allows them as lawful what is good (and pure) and prohibits them from what is bad (and impure); He releases them from their heavy burdens and from the yokes that are upon them. So it is those who believe in him, honor him, help him, and follow the light which is sent down with him,- it is they who will prosper." [Surah Al-Araf 7:157]

HADITH:

Whosoever does an action which is not based upon our teachings is rejected (will not be accepted by Allah). (Riyaad us-Saaliheen, Book 297, hadith #1647) & (Muslim)

Stay away from matters that are made up because every made up matter (in ibaadah) is bidah, and every bidah is misguidance.
(Tirmidzi)

Acts of worship, even if exercised with ikhlas but if it is not in accordance with the guidance of Quran & Rasulullah (SAW), then they are likely to be rejected. A few good deeds but upon Sunnah are better than many good deeds in bidah.

Therefore, in the matter of ibaadah, we have to ask ourselves:

What is the basis or daleel that we use as the foundation? For whom do we do the good deeds? When we do not know the basis then leave it because it is safer for us.

3. Pure, Halal income:

"Rejoice and hope for that which will please you. By Allah' it is not poverty that I fear for you, but I fear that this world will be opened up with its wealth for you as it was opened to those before you; and you vie with one another over it as they did and eventually it will ruin you as it ruined them." [Al-Bukhari -Muslim] As Taken from Riyad-us-Saliheen

Surah Al-Baqara 2: 278-279

O you who believe, fear Allah and give up what still remains of riba (interest), if you are believers. (278) But if you do not (give it up), then listen to the declaration of war from Allah and His Messenger. However, If you repent, yours is your principal. Neither do wrong, nor be wronged. (279)

Ibn Masood (RA) narrates that Rasulullah (SAW) said, A slave (of Allah) who acquires haram wealth and gives charity from it, it is not accepted from him. If he spends from it, he does not have any blessing (barakah) in it. If he leaves it behind him (i.e. he dies) it will be a means of taking him to the fire (of Hell). Verily, Allah does not wipe out evil deed with evil deed; instead, He wipes out evil deed with good deed. Indeed, the repulsive does not wipe out the repulsive. (Musnad Ahmad, Sharh As-sunnah; Mishkaatul Masaabih pg. 242, Qadeemi)

"Whoever gives charity equivalent to a date, from his pure earnings and Allah only accepts pure then Allah will accept it with His right hand, then He will nurture it for its companion, like one of you nurtures his foal, until it becomes like a mountain." Bukhari (#1410) and others.

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) also reported that the Prophet (SAW) said: "As soon as a pilgrim sets out for Hajj with a provision earned by lawful means, and puts his (or her) foot in the stirrup (i.e. rides his mount to start the journey) and calls out: 'O Allah! Here I am in response to Your call,' an announcer answers him from Heaven: 'Your call has been answered; how lucky you are: your provision is lawful, your mount is lawful, your Hajj is accepted and it will remove your sins.' But, if he (or she) sets out with a provision unlawfully gained, and he (or she) puts his (or her) foot in the stirrup and calls out: 'O Allah! Here I am in response to Your call,' an announcer from Heaven answers him (or her) back: 'Your call is not accepted; how unlucky you are: your provision is unlawful, your Hajj is not accepted and it will not remove your sins." This Hadith is reported by At-Tabaraani in his book Al-Awsat.

Mohammad (SAW) mentioned a man having journeyed far, is disheveled and dusty and who spreads out his hands to the sky (saying): O Lord! O Lord! - While his food is Haram, his drink is Haram, his clothing is Haram, and his nourishment is Haram, so how can his dua be answered! (Sahih Muslim)

Things that may nullify acceptance of our deeds Lack of Sincerity Not following Quran & Sunnah 4. Riya/(Minor Shirk)Showing off 5. Arrogance 6. Backbiting

7. Disobedience to Parents

4. Riya/ Showing off

"Like those who spend from their wealth to be seen by men, and they do not believe in Allah and the Last Day. Their example is like the example of a hard rock on which is a little soil, then on it falls heavy rain which flows off it and they will not be able to do anything with whatever they have earned and Allah does not guide the disbelieving people." [Al-Qur'an 2:264]

The Prophet (SAW) said:

"What I fear for you the most is the minor shirk, that is ar-riya. Allah will say on the Day of Judgement when He is rewarding the people for their actions: Go to those for whom you did riya for in the world then see if you find the reward with them." [Related by Ahmad (5/428, 429) and al-Baghawi in Sharh as-Sunnah (4135) from the
hadith of Mahmud bin Lubayd (RA), with an authentic chain upon the conditions of Muslim]

The Prophet (SAW), said: "Shall I not inform you of what I fear for you more than the Masih adDajjal? It is the hidden shirk. It is when a man stands up for prayer, then beautifies his prayer for another to look at."
[Related by Ibn Majah (2604) from the hadith of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, radiallahu 'anhu. The hadith is hasan]

5. Arrogance/Self Admiration:
Arrogance is one of the characteristics of Iblees, so whoever wants to be arrogant should realize that he is acquiring a characteristic of the devils. Arrogance is of several types, including the following: 1 When a person does not accept the truth.

Arrogance means rejecting the truth and looking down on people. Abd-Allaah ibn Masood
2 When a person admires himself for his beauty or handsomeness, or the fineness of his food or clothing, so he feels proud and arrogant and feels superior to people. It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah said: The Prophet (SAW) said: Whilst a man

was walking, dragging his garment with pride, with his hair nicely combed, Allah caused the earth to swallow him and he will go on sinking in it until the Day of Resurrection.
Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3297; Muslim, 2088

The righteous people do not like to be praised. When we praise people too much, sometimes we can push them into kibr. This is very dangerous. Imam Suhaib Webb

6. Backbiting:
The Prophet (SAW) is reported to have said:

"Do you know who is bankrupt?" The Companions replied, 'The bankrupt amongst us is the person who has no money or property." The Prophet (pbuh) said, "The bankrupt from amongst my Ummah is the one who will come on the Day of Resurrection with a good record of Salah, Sawm and Zakah. But he also had cursed someone, slandered against someone, unlawfully took the property of another, killed someone or beat someone. Then all of these abused persons will receive parts of his (abuser's) Hasanaat. When all of his (abuser's) Hasanaat have been removed from his record after he (abuser) pays back for what he owes, then the aggrieved persons' sins will be transferred to and thrown on him (abuser) and he (abuser) will be thrown into the Fire." (Related by Muslim and Tirmidhi)
The Prophet (SAW) said: "No fire is faster in consuming dry wood than gheebah in consuming a devotee's virtues." [Al-Mahajjat al-bayda', vol. 5, p. 264]

7.Disobedience to Parents:
[ Surah al-Ankaboot29:8]

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said:

The curse of Allah is on the one who causes difficulty to his mother. The curse of the angels & the curse of mankind are on him. Allah neither accepts his fardh nor his nafl worship as long as he does not repent and obey his mother. He has to gain her pleasure as best he can. Allahs pleasure depends on the mothers pleasure and His wrath is concealed in her wrath.

1. Ibrahim(AS) spent his entire life, performing exemplary deeds of obedience, yet he prays to be made (Muslim)obedient

2. He included his descendants too in his prayer, showing more concern for their spiritual wellbeing & akhirah than the comforts of this world.

3. He made dua to show him the correct way to worship, Ex. Hajj rituals

4. Eventually, he realizes that he is a human being after all & all humans make mistakes. So he remembers to ask for Allahs forgiveness.
Forgiveness for what?

Note: Even Ibrahim (AS) asks Allah(SWT) to show him how to worship!!!

5. Very important to remember, that we dont know when we are going to die. Always make dua for Iman & do constant Astaghfar

This type of supplication is allowed, because loving to have offspring who worship Allah alone without partners is a sign of complete love of Allah.

This supplication by Ibrahim and Isma`il is similar to what Allah informed us of about His believing servants.

Our Lord! Bestow on us from our mates/spouses and our offspring, the comfort(coolness) of our eyes, and make us leaders of the Muttaqin Surah Al-Furqan(25:74).

Allah accepted Ibrahim's supplication, although He had full knowledge beforehand that it will occur by His decree. Hadith: As Sahihah # 1546 & 1925 and Ahmad
"O Messenger of Allah! Tell us about how your prophethood started.'' The prophet (SAW) said, I am the supplication of my father Ibrahim, the good news of Jesus, the son of Mary, and my mother saw a light that radiated from her which illuminated the castles of Ash-Sham (Syria).

Hence, Ibrahim was the first person to mention the Prophet to the people. Ever since, Muhammad was known to the people, until the last Prophet was sent among the Children of Israel, Jesus the son of Mary, who mentioned Muhammad by name.

Jesus addressed the Children of Israel saying, I am the Messenger of Allah unto you, confirming what is before me in the Tawrah, and giving glad tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad) (61:6) Surah As-Saff

The Prophet said, My mother saw a light that went out of her and radiated the palaces of Ash-Sham. Ahmad 5:262 It was said that the Prophet's mother saw this vision when she was pregnant, narrated this vision to her people, and the story became popular among them. The light mentioned in the Hadith appeared in Ash-Sham (Greater Syria), testifying to what will later occur when the Prophet's religion will be firmly established in Ash-Sham area. This is why by the end of time, Ash-Sham will be a refuge for Islam and its people. Also, Jesus the son of Mary will descend in Ash-Sham, next to the eastern white minaret in Damascus.
The Two Sahihs stated, There will always be a group of my Ummah who will be on the truth, undeterred by those who fail or oppose them, until the command of Allah comes while they are on this. Al-Bukhari added in his Sahih, And they will reside in Ash-Sham.
