Multi-Modal Transport System

What is Multi-Modal Transport?

Single trip consisting of combination of modes Definition: A transportation system under a single contract, but performed with at least two different means of transport Carrier or Multi-Modal Transport Operator (MTO) Sub-carriers

The Idea
To facilitate and improve passenger interface. To reinforce passenger/operators/developers focal point. (MMT Stations) To provide flexibility in the use of alternative mode choice. To evolve non-competing, coordinated system of various modes

Aim of MMTS
Transportation on a broader basis Complete journey from origin to destination Efficient use of Public Transport System Speedy commuting Efficient network integration of modes. Better circulation.

Light Rail Transit System (LRTS)

What is LRT?
Lighter than MRTS & Heavy Rail systems in terms of capacity & speeds. American Public Transportation Association (APTA) defines as: An electric railway with a 'light volume' traffic capacity compared to heavy rail which may use shared or exclusive rights-of-way, high or low platform loading and multi-car trains or single cars.

Few Features
Lesser land acquisition wrt MRTS Higher transporting capacity wrt street transport. Higher speeds Lighter in weight. Higher Degree of Curves wrt MRTS Comparatively economical Attempt to counter existing traffic congestion
