Dark Red: The connotations of red can be associated with a variety of emotions and feelings.

The deep red connotes and can be associated with fire and blood linking to violence such as demonstrating energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination.

Blue: Blue is strongly associated with tranquillity and calmness. It also symbolises peace and innocence as its quite a subtle colour as it comes across quite fresh and relaxing. Therefore blue wouldnt be used in a rock magazine as it wouldnt be appropriate with the context. Black: Black is associated with a variety of things including power, elegance, death, evil, and mystery. Black is a strange colour as its associated with fear and the unknown for example black holes. Black usually has a negative connotation as when its spotted people automatically think of death and negative imagery. Green: Green is automatically associated with nature and saving the planet and being ecofriendly when its seen to the reader. This is because it symbolizes growth, freshness and fertility. Yellow: The connotations of yellow are the sun, happiness, innocence, energy etc. Yellow is found in relaxing contexts as its seen as a mental stimulator, therefore yellow wouldnt be a usual colour found in a music magazine unless it was more of a goldy type.

Bright red: Bright red has a different connotation in comparison to the deeper shade of red as it can be associated with more things like passion, love, sensitivity, sexuality, desirable manner etc.

Light Pink: Light pink has a different connotation to a deeper pink as it signifies romance, love, and friendship. It also denotes feminine qualities and passiveness and is always stereotyped to be a girly colour.

Musty yellow: The musty yellow colour also has a different connotation in comparison to a normal bright and bold yellow. This is because the darker shade of yellow is associated with sickness, jealousy, caution, decay etc. Therefore the darker shade of yellow has more negative connotations. Dark Green: Similarly dark green has a different connotation in comparison to the lighter shade as the darker colour is associated more with jealousy, greed, ambition etc. Therefore once again the darker colours are more negative and fighting for power and control. Dark Blue: Different shades of colours always have different meanings and interpretations. This is because the darker shade of blue has a completely opposing meaning in comparison to the lighter shade.
