of Year 10 are to do this project in pairs. The Mathematics teachers jointly mark each project which should be presented to them by you. Other students and teachers are invited to come to the Fair and to ask you questions about your project.
investigating, making findings and judgments, proving statements and presenting your work are all key skills in life. They are particularly useful in Mathematics and assessed at IGCSE and IB level. You are doing this to prepare you for such assessment.

How do I start?
Firstly you will either be paired by your teacher or given a choice of who you work with. The next stage is for each pair to discuss ideas and come up with an outline plan of what your project is about. IT MUST HAVE APPROPRIATE MATHEMATICAL CONTENT AT EXTENSION LEVEL AND ABOVE. You then submit to your teacher a proposal form which will either be accepted or declined. This process needs to be completed with all project ideas accepted by Friday 25th March 2011. If you are struggling for ideas, start by thinking what areas of Mathematics you are both good at or interest you, then think how you could apply that to a situation.
will be given a short amount of lesson time to work on this project. Most of the time needs to be spent out of lessons on this. You need to eventually have the project presentation ready for the Fair. You may also use various technological equipment if you wish.
