WHAT IS HYPERTENSIVE CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE?

Hypertension or high blood pressure is a cardiac chronic medical condition in which the systemic arterial blood pressure is elevated. Heart disease or cardiovascular diseases are the class of diseases that involve the heart or blood vessels (arteries and veins).

THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM

Predisposing Factors Increase fat deposit on the walls of the blood vessels Atherosclerosis Narrowing of blood vessel (coronary artery) Decrease blood flow through the coronary arteries to the heart Increase Blood Pressure BP: 160/100mmHg HCVD Pressure on the wall of blood vessel Increase Peripheral Vascular Pressure Some fragments joins in circulation
Goes to small vessels and clog (deep penetrating arteries especially lacunar region)

Precipitating Factor Insufficient insulin secretion/ production of the pancreas Accumulation of glucose in the blood stream. (Hyperglycemia) FBS result: 8/11/2011 13.27 mmol/L 8/19/2011 7.42 mmol/L Increase viscosity of blood/ sluggish flow of blood

Complication can occur: Ischemia, Angina pectoris, MI, Heart attack, CVA

Pons: Responsible for motor control and sensory analysis Affects autonomic control function Vertigo, Headache Weakness: Right sided body weakness Visual Disturbance Slurred Speech

Obstruction/interruption of O2 supply due to decreased blood supply INFARCTION CT scan: Acute left pontine infarct

Death

Predisposing Factors Non-Modifiable AGE: 57 y.o. GENDER: Male FAMILY: Hypertension and Heart Failure, Diabetes Mellitus, Bronchial Asthma

Precipitating Factor
Stress, vices (cock derby), diet (high cholesterol and fat), high caffeine, no daily exercise

Increase fat deposit on the walls of the blood vessels

Insufficient insulin secretion/ production of the pancreas

Atherosclerosis
Organ affected: Blood Vessel

Accumulation of glucose in the blood stream. (Hyperglycemia) FBS result: 8/11/2011 13.27 mmol/L 8/19/2011 7.42 mmol/L
Increase viscosity of blood/ sluggish flow of blood
(damage the blood vessel)
Hemoconcentration and risk for coagulation

Slow healing
Thrombus formation

Narrowing of blood vessel (coronary artery)

Organ affected: heart

Pressure on the wall of blood vessel (Peripheral Vessel)

Increase Peripheral Vascular Pressure.

Decrease blood flow through the coronary arteries to the heart

Increase Blood Pressure BP: 160/100mmHg HCVD Complication can occur: Ischemia, Angina pectoris, MI, Heart attack, CVA

Some fragments joins in circulation

Goes to small vessels and clog (deep penetrating arteries especially lacunar region)

Obstruction/interruption of O2 supply due to decreased blood supply INFARCTION CT scan: Acute left pontine infarct
as of 8/12/2011

Death

INFARCTION CT scan: Acute left pontine infarct Organ affected: BRAIN

Pons: Responsible for motor control and sensory analysis Affects autonomic control function

Vertigo, Headache Weakness: Right sided body weakness Visual Disturbance Slurred Speech
