WHAT IS SSB?

SSB i.e services selection boards are unique kind of interviews which are design specially for selections of new officers in armed forces i.e for Air Force,Army,Navy. SSB main objective is to selecting the best candidate who will fulfill all the essential requirements which is supposed to be in Indian Defence officer.

Basic framework of SSB are :

Psychological tests Field tests Interview

5 DAYS GAME

Duration of SSB are 5 days. Each day has its own importance as you are monitoring each and every day. Let us understand what are the various activities take part in each day in SSB.

FIRST DAY
1.Verbal intelligence tests. 2.Non verbal intelligence tests. 3.Word association tests. 4.Theme appreciation tests. 5.Situation reaction test. 6.Self describtion. 7.Field tests(GTO Tasks).

SECOND DAY

Group discussion. Group planning exercise. Progressive group tasks. Group obstacle race. Interview.

THIRD DAY

Half group task. Individual obstacles. Command task. Self introduction.

FOURTH DAY
Group task on the same lines as serial on the third day. GTOs address to all candidates. The aim is to observe the candidate in a team and as a commander,see his physical stamina,power of expression and interaction with others.

FINAL DAY

Interview
The candidates are called for individual interview by the interviewing officer on the fourth and fifth days. there is no fixed time for the interview or any fixed order in which the candidates may be called.

CONTI

Normally, the candidates are questioned on their habits and hobbies as revealed by them in their bio data's filled on the fist day at the SSB.Social environment, academic performance, extra curricular activities, likes dislikes, ambitions etc.

QUALITIES WHICH THE SSB LOOK FOR:

Ability to withstand stress and stress which is an index for physical fitness and mental tenacity. Ability to take quick decisions, self confidence,influence,team leading. Ability to plan and oraganise,resourseful,clarity of expression to lead the team.

CONCLUSION
It is not very easy to crack SSB interviews. You should identify your weak spots and strong points. As 80% change in your hand you could develop certain skills through regular practise.And most important you should act like officer to became Indian armed forces officer.
