Recall
Resistor is an electronic component that resists the

current by producing voltage between its twoterminals. Fixed resistors and Variable resistors are the two basic types of resistors. Resistors are of different types such as Carbon Film resistor, Carbon Composition resistor, Metal Oxide Film resistor, Precision Metal Film resistor and Foil resistors. Resistance, Tolerance, and Impedance are the different ratings for resistors

Definition of Ohm's Law

Ohm's law states that the current is directly

proportional to voltage and inversely proportional to resistance. The mathematical equation that describes the law is as follows:
I=V/R

Where, I = current, V = voltage, R = resistance.

Determine Current using Ohm's law

As per Ohm's law:

Current (I) = Voltage (V or E) / Resistance (R)

If you substitute the alphabets I, E and R for current, voltage and resistance respectively, the formula for current becomes: I=E/R

Determine Voltage using Ohm's law

As per Ohm's law:

Current (I) = Voltage (V or E) / Resistance (R)

By rearranging this equation, you can develop a formula for the voltage. Voltage (E) = Current (I) x Resistance (R) i.e, E = I R

Determine Resistance using Ohms law

The voltage formula is: E=IR Dividing both the sides of the equation by I, we get, E / I = (I x R) / I From the right side of the equation, I is cancelled. Hence, the formula becomes: E/I=R Reversing the equation, you get the equation for resistance as, R=E/I
