1. STRUT: It is a structural member which transmits the static load of shoe return spring at supplied condition and Load due to HBL action during parking brake application. Leaf spring and Thermo-Bi-metal are riveted to it on either side of strut as shown in fig. Strut will be kept tightly in contact with the surface of web with the help of Strut retaining spring.
2. LEAF SPRING: This is the component which rotates the nut for adjustment of brake. It is riveted to the strut as shown in fig. This stores the energy when Adjuster ratchet pushed up from normal position and this energy will be used to apply a tangential load on the teeth of Toothed Nut during adjusting action
3. PAWL: pawl is an element which is designed in such a way that one end of it is fitted to the leaf spring and other end will seat in to the teeth of Toothed Nut as shown in figure. Basically it transforms the static load applied by the leaf spring in to tangential load of the Toothed nut.
7. ADJUSTER RACHET: This is one of the main elements which make the auto adjuster function possible. This is having two faces which are at angle greater than 90. During application of brake the oscillating action of the Ratchet will cause the leaf spring to move up and down which in turn apply the tangential load on the toothed nut. The Adjuster ratchet is having slot in which Thermo-bimetal will seat and lock the oscillating action when brake temperature crossed the design temperature.
