MILESTONES
1912 Nestl Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company (Export) Limited begins importing and selling milk products in India.
1959 Incorporated as Food Specialities Ltd, promoted by Nestle Holdings. 1961 First factory set up at Moga, Punjab, where the Government wanted Nestl to develop the milk economy. 1967 Second plant, set up at Choladi (Tamil Nadu).
1995 Introduced Kit Kat, internationally acclaimed chocolate based snack. Fifth plant set-up in Ponda. 1996 Launched MILO-Chocolate drink and culinary products like Dosa and Sambhar mixes, pickles and soups under the Maggi brand. 1997 New Plant commissioned at Bicholim (Goa). 1998 International Auditing of NIL ordered by Nestl SA. 2000 NIL enters bottled water market with Pure Life brand and ultra heat treated liquid milk Nescafe Pure Milk 2006 Seventh plant started at Pantnagar (UK). 2012 Eighth factory setup at Tahliwal (HP).

Nestle intends to maintain its leadership in the instant and infant food segments To cater to the consumption boom the company has made aggressive investments in capacities Planning to invest Rs 5 bn for setting up a plant in Gujarat. Has launched new products like Nestle Actiplus dahi, Nestle Baby & Me, Maggi Souper Roni, Maggi Dumdaar, Nestle Premium Swiss Choclate etc. as brand extensions across the segments.
