Introduction
Women is the most significant and splendid creation of God. She gives colour and variety to earthly life and fills it with aesthetic dimension. But the same women who bears and rears man from infancy and provides him with emotional and psychological feeling is craving for her rightful, dignified and decent place in society.

Empowerment refers to increasing the spiritual, political, social, educational, gender, or economic strength of individuals and communities.

Status of women in India


Women who are employed in India only 64.2 % of those are earning cash as compared to 91.5% of men who are employed. 34% of women in rural go to market alone as compared to 64% of urban area. In rural area 15% of women dont even go to market while in urban area this stat is 7%. Our constitution supports equality of women by its articles number 14,15,16,19,23,25 and 39.

A survey has shown that 9 out of 10 in urban women are sexually harassed Moreover 63% of them are harassed frequently or occasionally.

More suggestions for women empowerment


Create a gender sensitive educational system. Potential contribution of microfinance programmes to women empowerment. A childcare centre at the workplace. Gender wage gap should be checked. Liberation from male chauvinism. Improve the quality of education.
