The general practitioner (dentist) must recognize and assume responsibilities related to total oral health. If for one reason or another, he desires to limit his interests and obligations to other areas of practice, provisions must be made for referral of such patients. The child patient may be sent to the oral surgeon, orthodontist, pediatric dentist, pediatrician and other health professionals, depending upon the needs of the child.

Note:
Mefenamic acid should never be prescribed for children Ibuprofen (analgesic, anti-inflamm.) is best used in conjunction with antibiotics for widespread infection
