BRIEF HISTORY
The Standard Chartered Group was formed

in 1969 through a merger of two banks:

Bank of British South Africa founded in 1863 and the Chartered Bank of India, Australia and China, founded in 1853.

The Chartered Bank was founded by Scotsman James Wilson in 1853. While the Standard Bank was founded in the Cape Province of South Africa in 1863 by another Scotsman John Paterson

Standard chartered bank is basically a multinational bank that is providing services not only in India but also worldwide. Today the size of the man power of S.C.B. in nearly about 75,000 people and out of which approx. half are women's. Today S.C.B. has the maximum percentage of share in capturing Indian high networth individual market.

Threat:
HSBC pitching is quite aggressively. Competition from major players like ICICI BANK, KOTAK MAHINDER BANK,HDFC ,SBI BANK ,HSBC ,AXIS BANK etc. The downfall in the Export market due to global recession.

Research Methodology
Research Design The research is an EXPLORATORY RESEARCH, as conducted to clarify ambiguous situations or discover ideas that may be potential business opportunities. In comparative analysis of saving account of Standard chartered bank and HSBC bank. The research is carried on the objective to know the satisfaction level of the customers by saving account of both Banks and to arrive at the conclusion. Sampling Plan: Population: It includes people of different occupation like: Business class Service class Professionals Any other occupation Having a savings bank account with different banks.

Sampling Type: Convenience Sampling: According to my Convenience. I used convenience sampling and as research was done from the respondents who have a savings bank account as mentioned in the objective of the project. Sample size 50 People Area of Operation The area of operation is Vashi Type of Data Two types of data are collected: PRIMARY DATAOriginal data compiled and studied for a specific purpose. For example, a structured survey might be conducted for the purpose of discovering current attitudes on a particular topic; raw survey responses would be primary data. Primary data is collected either through observations or through direct communication with the respondents in the form of questionnaires, interviews or personal interaction etc. So, here the primary data is collected through Questionnaire and Personal Interaction. The questionnaire which was drafted was a structured questionnaire in which the questions asked were predetermined.

SECONDARY DATA:It is the data which is collected by someone else or for some other purpose and which have already been passed through statistical process. The sources of secondary data which are used: Companys Manual Website of Standard Chartered Bank. Information acquiring through Internet. Articles on the relative topics in various magazines and newspapers like Economic Times, Business Standard etc.

Conclusions
To conclude, it can be said that the research findings clearly reveal the goodwill and reputation of the bank among the customer. But there is a need to strengthen the bank by spreading awareness about the services offered by Standard Chartered bank through advertisement and by expanding the branches of the bank all over the country and also by tapping the potential customers through innovative means.
