MODE OF TRANSPORTATION

DEFINITION OF TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is defined as a process of transferring or transporting human, animal, goods, gas and liquid from one place to another.

TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM
Transportation system in Malaysia is divided into land, water and air. It depends on : i) Medium and Mode ii) Demand iii) Selection of transportation system

MEDIUM Medium is the type of passage used either using highway, railway, sea, river or air. MODE Mode is the type of transportation used such as car, boat or airplane.

Transportation Demand

Land Use And Transportation Cycle

Land usage - the opening of new land or using the existing land will create a new way to the destination. Every journey made will influence the demand for transportation. This demand either for economy, social or cultural purposes will then create transportation facilities. These facilities increase contacts which will easily penetrate the area. Accessibility - will increase the value of land and eventually create variable land usage.

Selection Factors Of Transportation System

Feasibility Study a) Economic Assessment b) Engineering Assessment c) Socio-economic Assessment d) Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
