AUDITION
Auditions take place from big cities such as Bandung, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Medan, and Makassar. And ended up in Jakarta. Small auditions were also held in Ambon and Manado. Contestants from Manado and Ambon who managed to advance to the next round to be sent to Surabaya for a second round of auditions. Auditions consist of two rounds. ELIMINATION
Participants who passed the Audition stage will get a Golden Ticket to go to the round of elimination. Where in this round, participants will sing in solo, duet and group on the first season until the fifth and seventh, while the sixth season, participants will only sing in two sessions, group and solo. From this round, will be formed 24 large (15 of the seventh season) (in the first season, to sixth and third in the second season about 30 people selected, 27 were selected in seventh season) finalists who will go to Workshop stages.

WORKSHOP
The twenty-four finalists who passed the elimination round, will go to the last workshop, which in this round, 24 finalists will be divided into 3 groups. From each group will be selected three persons (from first season) and 4 (from second season) who received the highest voting via SMS. And from each group will be formed 12 finalists of Indonesian Idol. But in the third to fifth, the above system does not apply, because in the second season there were only three women's finalists. WILDCARD

SPECTACULAR SHOW
12 participants will qualify in the previous round in the last spectacular performance capabilities. This round will take place every week and will set aside one contestant with the lowest voting. RESULT SHOW FROM SPECTACULAR SHOW

GRAND FINAL
The remaining 2 participants will compete in this round. By singing three songs, each track consists of jury selection, song selection of participants, and the song was created specifically for the finalists.

BATTLE GOES ON
The show was aired as a week after the grand final. Where the two remaining finalists will campaign to solicit support from viewers. Aired from 2 different places. Eliminated from this round of the fifth season.

RESULT SHOW FROM GRAND FINAL

Aired a week after the Grand Final or the day after the Battle Goes On. In this stage determination will convert the results of voting participants with the highest vote to be the Indonesian Idol
