Former name, Formosa, is the Portuguese word for beautiful, which I am sure it is. Country of 23 million people, they prefer to call the island Taiwan of course.

balmy weather tempered by sea breezes, as well as fantastic beaches, and fruit and sugar cane plantations. Despite the presence of Taiwan!is bustling second city of Kaohsiung this is still a place of great tradition and custom, with many of the island!is finest temples!

Eastern Taiwan is the wildest and least


populated area of the island, with dense forests lining a rugged, rocky coastline of crashing surf and plunging cliffs, while white water rivers carve their way inland through spectacular gorges.

Dragon Boat Festival


On the fifth day of the fifth moon, a major day of racing is held across the island. Taiwanese people also regard this day as a time to prepare and eat steamed rice zongzi dumplings.

On the seventh day of the seven moon - it is Lover's daythe Chinese equivalent of St Valentines day.

Moon Festival
The Moon Festival is falls on the 15th day of the 8th moon, there are plenty of spectacular fireworks displays throughout the night, and bakeries everywhere sell traditional Moon Cakes.
