Description
Bay Range Hindustan campus is built amidst a lush green stretch of over 150 acres abutting beautiful lakes. The green atmosphere is conducive for a calm and peaceful academic pursuit. -800 trees, RAIN WATER HARVESTING over 50,00,000 sq.ft. of area -Well designed effluent treatment plant (STP) -Bio degradation waste is re circulated -All the waste and discarded computer systems, electronic items, networking components, etc., by disposing them to authorized E-waste recycling firms -The Pollution Control norms, set by the government of India. -Next generation Class room was designed and established -20 % of the research conducted in the campus is towards conservation of energy.

Objective:
To build an eco friendly green campus. To Save on power and water consumption. To maximize the use of the natural resources in the campus. To save on power consumption and reduce water wastage To prepare the campus for the global warming threat To provide a bench mark for Green campus.

Contest
Creative Model Contest as part of SHRISTI Symposium Hindustan Environment Day 2012 An in-house article writing competition was organization for both staff and students. Hindustan Environment Day 2012 - A National Seminar on Water Conservation was organized. Organized slogan writing competition towards green earth.

RECYCLABLE WASTE & EQUIPMENT


All Bio-degradable waste is combined with treatment plant sludge and is used as natural fertilizers in the gardening purposes. The excess quantity is distributed to the nearby villages. Plastic material usage was banned in the campus since last 10 years All the metal items, canes, waste metal pieces from workshop are put in the scrap and are being disposed. The plastic bottles are reused in the laboratories and the rest sold to the recyclers. All the e-waste have been sold to authorized e-waste recycling firms. These firms are authorized by Pollution Control Board of India (PCBI).

ASSISTANCE / TRAINING FOR RECYCLERS

1. Ensure segregation of solid waste when utilizing the sorting table. 2. Ensure all solid waste is separated and placed into the appropriate collection bins. 3. Ensure all recyclable materials are separated. 4. Ensure applicable PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is worn at appropriate times. 5. Ensure to place recyclable material in the proper containers. 6. Ensure surrounding area is cleaned after job is performed. 7. Ensure trash containers are in good condition. 8. Ensure to inspect all trash collection areas daily. 9. Ensure waste containers are stored at a distance of a minimum of 50 feet from occupied buildings to reduce fire hazards and pest infestation / disease carrying vector problems.
