Home made Tiffin Service

Started Tiffin service in the year 2000.


Offers food for lunch and dinner. For lunch they offer Chapati and Bhaji and for

dinner they offer Dal, Rice, one Bhaji and Chapati or Bhakri. No home delivery. Charges are on monthly bases. Main aim of starting the business was to earn some extra income and support the family

What was your primary motivation for starting a

business? What were the factors that led you to start the venture? Ans: Primary motivation was to support my family, because my husband lost his job and there was no one who could provide us with support in that situation. There are many factors which led to start this business:
First is self-earning and support to my family. Second is that I noticed that in this area there are many

people who work here without their family so I think I can help them by providing Tiffin service to them. There was very few tiffin service provider then, so I think

How and where did you get this idea for a business?

Ans: As I mention above , there are some factors that led me to start this business on small scale. So there was no idea but it was need to start this business.
What were your goals at the time you started the venture?

Ans: The main goal was to give financial support to my family and also to educate my children.
How did you finance the business?

Ans: We took loan and we had some saving so we utilize that to start our bisuness.

What are your marketing strategies?

Ans: There is noting specific like marketing strategy, but we maintain good quality of food also improve the service efficiency. As we are very small scale, so for promotions ,we put banners, distributes templates and word of mouth played important role to increase the awareness of our service.
What sort of resources did you have when you started

the venture? Ans: Not much, but just our savings and will to provide for our family

Who are your competitors in the big run?

Ans: There is no direct competitor for us, but hotels, restaurants can act as threat.
How long was a typical work day and work week?

Ans: This is the Tiffin Service, so there is nothing like work day and work week. We work for all days in the work.

Were there some critical times when the business

nearly failed? Ans: Not like failed. But summer season and Diwali is the down period for us.
What are your expectations for the future with

regards to this business? Ans: We want to expand our business and want to start catering services.

What lessons would you like to give other

entrepreneurs? Ans: If You really want the successful business then hardwork and right decision making helps you a lot.

An Entrepreneur should have a clear objective. He/She should also have conviction to follow on his/her ideas. He/she should recognise the needs of not only the customers but also its own people just as we see in this case. That every cloud has silver lining He/she should grab opportunity as and when it comes.
