Background Information
Burj
Khalifa is a skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is the tallest man-made building ever built, at 829.4 m. began on 21 September 2004, the exterior of the building was finished on 1 October 2009. building finished and opened on the 4th of January 2010. It took overall 6 years to be finished!!

The construction of Burj Khalifa has taken more than 22million man-hours, 380 skilled engineers and on-site technicians, and has used more than 330,000 m3 of concrete, 39,000 tones of steel rebar.
The Design-History
Architect, Adrian Smith, has said the triple-lobed footprint (base) of the building was inspired by the flower Hymenocallis The design of Burj Khalifa is derived from patterning systems embodied in Islamic architecture. According to the structural engineer, Bill Baker, the building's design contains cultural and historical elements particular to the region. The Y-shaped plan is ideal for residential and hotel usage, with the wings allowing maximum outward views and inward natural light

More
than 1,000 pieces of art decorate the interiors of Burj Khalifa featuring 196 bronze and brass alloy symbols representing the 196 countries of the world. The exterior cladding is made up of reflective aluminum and textured stainless glass to resist desert heat and solar rays. There are two swimming pools on the 43rd and 76th floors.

The building is expected to hold up to 35,000 people!! This shows the size and strength of the building. There are 162 floors (and 2 parking levels in the basement), floors area of 309,473 m2, 57 elevators and 8 escalators!!

Armani hotel that is found on the first floors of the building cost $37,500 per m2 and the rest of it cost $43,000 per m2 !

The Basic structure of BURJ KHALIFA is central hexagonal core with three wings clustered around As the tower rises one wing in each tier sets back in spiraling pattern. So it reaches towards sky in 26 helical levels.(26 terraces)

described as Buttressed Core Central core provides torsional resistance. Corridor walls extended from core to end of wings where they are thickened with hammer head walls(acts like web and flanges of a beam) At mechanical floors perimeter columns are connected through outriggers walls. Fountains
There
is an artificial lake and a fountain in front of tower World largest musical(computer controlled) fountain and sprayed 22000gallons of water at a time. The curtain of water can go up to 150m height and is 250m long
opening day was held on 4th January 2010. The ceremony featured a display of 10,000 fireworks, light beams projected on and around the tower, and further sound, light and water effects!
