CHOIR UIL REGION RESULTS


Six UIL Contest Choirs competed at the Region 13 contest on April 17th and 18th. We had five Sweepstakes (straight 1s from every judge in all categories) Our NonVarsity Mens choir received all 1s from the concert judges and 2s from the sight reading judges. At the Dallas Festival our choirs did exceptionally well bringing home 9 trophies in various categories. Three choirs received outstanding in Class and one runner-up in class.

BAND UIL COMPETITION


All three bands that attended UIL earned straight ones in Concert and Sight-Reading. top band earned 29th consecutive overall Sweepstakes(Both marching/concert and sight-reading). CHS Fine Arts Department took 14 groups to UIL with 12 of the 14 earning a sweepstakes(concert and sight-reading).

CONGRATS, ANITA
Anita Kaws paper, "Effect of osteocalcin on human beta cell proliferation and function and its role on insulin secretion" done at the Methodist Hospital Research Institute, Medical Center was accepted for a presentation at the 2013 European Pancreatic Club international meeting in Zurich, Switzerland June 26 to 29.The EPC also has awarded a travel grant of EUR 900 for her to be able to attend this meeting. Most presenters are PhDs or doctors.

GIRLS GOLF WINS DISTRICT


A team was crowned DISTRICT CHAMPIONS, and B team finished a very strong fourth place. Individually, Amber Wang won with scores of 73-76 Beryl Wang finished 2nd overall with scores of 80-72 Samantha Waldheim finished 3rd overall with scores of 77-77

BOYS GOLF WINS


A team finished in a close second place behind Travis HS, and the B team finished 5th. Team led by Jacob Veerman, who ended up third medalist overall with scores 76-75 Garrett Moorer (71-87) and Jose Soto (7979) tied for 7th overall.

Late Ticket Sales:
Students will have the last opportunity to purchase tickets on May 9 and 10th. The ticket price will be $75 dollars a ticket. Cash only!!!! No tickets will be sold at the event. All juniors and seniors can purchase 2 tickets. They must have their school ID to purchase the tickets. Students must be cleared of all outstanding fees at the time of purchase. All individuals attending prom must not be older than 20 years old. Prom Favors: first 700 tickets sold will receive picture frame.

SENIOR RECEPTION
The annual Senior Reception will be held on Thursday, May 9th at 3:15 in the Colony Meadows Elementary library. The EOC assessments will NOT count as 15% of a students final grade for this year. Note: This change involves freshman and sophomore students taking EOC assessments. Current juniors and seniors remain under TAKS assessment requirements, not EOC.

Final Exam Exemption Information 2013 Spring Exemption Policy


Grade 9 & 10 No Exemptions Exemptions 11 and 12 Grades Eligible for exemption in all classes Minimum 2100 score on exit-level TAKS Minimum grade of 80 for semester 2 average No more than (4) absences in each class during spring semester 3 tardies = one absence Students absence of up to two (2) days for visiting a college or university may be considered as an exemption, provided the student:1. Receives prior approval from the campus principal2. Follows the campus procedures to verify such a visit3. Makes up any work missed (HB2542) Students may not have a removal to DAEP/JJAEP on their discipline record Students may not have outstanding fees or fines

EXEMPTION POLICY
