This type of leadership employs a participatory approach through consultation and team effort. It is the effective low profile leadership aimed at enabling, facilitating and catalyzing in order to give ownership, self confidence and responsibility to others.

Leaders identify problems, consider options, choose one solution and tell their followers what to do. Here leaders may use coercion.
Leaders make decisions and try to persuade group members to accept them.

Managers efine the boundaries within which to solve problems and accomplish tasks. They turn it over to the group to work out solutions or implement tasks.
