Load Analysis Guidelines

Performance Indicators average load rate of Computer Unit should not exceed 70% not exceeding tolerance of 5%

above condition should be reviewed before SW upgrade

MB load should not exceed 50% Possible Solutions Load distribution Increase number of computer units Rehoming or New NE deployment required

Computer Unit Load Observation

Computer unit load observation shows
average load rate as a percentage peak load rate as a percentage time of peak load

Load observation can be used for the reporting of load if no limit values restricting the output of reports are defined Alternatively, load observation can be used for the supervising of load if threshold values are defined to restrict the output of reports and the generation of alarms In such a case a report and an alarm are printed out when the load either exceeds or falls below the limit values defined

Control unit load observation report (118/76H) - Example

The control unit measurement produces information on the traffic intensity in the different control units .
Traffic intensity calculation in the control units is based on the total reservation time measured in the unit.

Control unit measurement measures the following:

number of call attempts number of successful call attempts and call attempts terminated in various types of errors answered calls traffic intensity The object list for the control units can include all the exchange's control units which provide signalling services.

Computer Unit Load Analysis

Example
The peak load for CCSU-6 of MSC is quite high. The situation needs further investigation as to the time and duration of such high peak load. An equal partition of load is required if av. load approaches 70%, eventually new SU should be added

Message Bus Load Analysis

MB Load rate is below 50% however the load is quite high MB Load rate needs to be checked more often to ensure that this does not get above 50% Before SW upgrade, the MB load should also be examined An upgrade of MB CPU will ease the load situation New MSC will help ease the load as some BSC will be rehomed
