EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
In teaching, my goal is to develop a student-centered environment. I want students to actively participate, rather than passively learn. When planning a course of instruction, I identify a set of objectives and skills. Next, I compile a rationale for each objective and skill. I design a course plan that emphasizes the application of critical thinking skills to foster deep learning, and the use of collaborative learning skills to facilitate real-world problem solving. My philosophy of teaching asserts that students are entitled to quality instruction in an active and stimulating learning environment. Students should experience frequent and repeated opportunities to act, react, and interact with each other and the teacher. Curriculum materials should be timely and relevant. Standards of excellencehigh, yet attainableshould be used to facilitate optimal student learning. Finally, as teaching is a process, not an activity, my teaching philosophy offers an invaluable reflective view on how to strive for instructional improvement.

STUDENT TEACHING
A. Mindanao

University of Science and Technology (Secondary Laboratory School)

The high school adopts the science and technology curriculum and is one of the premier high schools in Cagayan de Oro City.

This is my first actual training of which I was assigned to a Computer class of 30 students (2Camia) under the supervision of my cooperating teacher Ms. Elvira Enerio. During this period (3rd grading), I was regularly observed and given feedback or suggestions that helped me a lot in assessing my strengths and in improving my weaknesses.
Most of the students are smart and very active during discussions. They can easily get the lessons in less time so I didnt have much difficulties in dealing with them, only that I have to double-time preparing the lessons. Later did I know that all of them have computer access either their home or the neighborhood internet cafes. I had difficulty teaching during laboratory period because the computers they were using were Apple computers which is different than the usual Microsoft computers. It has a different operating system so the environment of manipulating it is different, and most of all I havent been exposed to it due to the scarcity of Apple computers during my time. To deliver my instructions well, I did study in advance, did some research, and practiced during my vacant period. I really enjoyed and learned a lot from this training.

STUDENT TEACHING
B. Cagayan

de Oro National High School

Cagayan de Oro City National High School, popularly known as City High is a small campus with large student population. They have facilities like covered court, principals office, library, computer room, and canteen but they have no room for the faculty. Most teachers are staying inside the classroom with their tables and chairs arranged in a cubicle either at the sides or at the back.

The students population is very big that is why they have double sessions, a morning session which starts at 6:30 am, and night session which starts at 12:00 noon. Most of the students come from the surrounding community and its sad to know that most of them have no books, uniforms, paper or pen but it is also inspiring that in spite of the scarcity of learning materials most of them still goes to school to learn.
I teach Mathematics to first year students (5 sections)in the evening shift. The schedule is not a problem at all only thing is that I had a hard time adjusting to the number of students per classroom. I had to modulate my voice so that the students at the back can hear me. Monitoring each students progress is also cumbersome, thanks to the advise of my cooperating teacher Mrs. Cerna M. Nagac who constantly giving me assessment every time she made an observation. She tells me my strengths and weaknesses and giving me some advises and tips to be effective. This experience is really a life-transforming experience that made me realize how exciting and interesting teaching really is.

SAMPLE OF SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN

I. Objectives At the end of 1 hour discussion, the students should be able to a. learn the names of the components of the Cartesian plane along with how to plot points and determine the coordinates of points. b. develop cooperative learning II. Subject Matter A.Topics: 1. The Cartesian Coordinate Plane 2. Points in The Cartesian Coordinate Plane 2.1 The Coordinates of a Point 2.2 Plotting of Points 2.3 Points in a Quadrant B. Reference: Elementary Algebra pp. 146-150 http://www.purplemath.com/modules/plane.htm III. Materials graphing paper pen/pencil chalk eraser IV. Procedure A. Activity Drawing and Labeling of the Cartesian Coordinate Plane Procedure: 1. Choose a partner. Each pair will be given 1 graphing paper. 2. Fold your graphing paper into halves and then fold it again to create 4 sections. 3. Trace the crease of the paper to construct two real number lines perpendicular to each other at the 0 point of each line. Label this point of intersection as O for origin. 4. The horizontal line is called the x-axis. The vertical number line is called the y-axis. Put an arrowhead at the ends. 5. Label each quadrant I, II, III, and IV

6. Label the grids on both axes to create a 1-1 mapping between the points in the plane and ordered pairs of real numbers (x,y). The first number x is called x coordinate or abscissa and the second number y is called y-coordinate or ordinate. 7. Congratulations! You have already made a Cartesian Coordinate Plane. B. Analysis

Why do you think is the purpose of doing this activity?

Why do I have to put arrowheads at the ends? Why is it called an ordered pair? Because of the order of how it is written. X first then Y. Any other questions about the drawing? C. Abstraction Find the coordinates of point A as shown. A(6,4)

To find the coordinates of a point: Draw a line from the point perpendicular to the x-axis. The point where the line intersects the x-axis is the x-coordinate. Draw a line from the point perpendicular to the y-axis. The point where the line intersects the y-axis is the y-coordinate.

What is the abscissa? What is the ordinate? Board work: Given the ordered pair of numbers, find the coordinates of these points A(2,1) , B(-3,2), C(-1,-4), D(-2,3) Quadrant I Both coordinate x and y are positive X>0 Y>0 Quadrant II All abscissa is negative, all ordinate is positive X<0 Y>0 Quadrant III Both x and y coordinates are negative X<0, y<0

Quadrant IV All abscissa is positive, all ordinate is negative X>0, y<0

V. Application Given the coordinates of a point, determine or locate in what quadrant or axis each point lie. A(-3,2) F(0,-4) B(4,2) H(-2,1) C(1, 3) I(5,-5) D(-6,-5) J(-5,5) E(-1,3) K(3,-2)

VI. Assignment Locate the points associated with the following ordered pair of numbers. A (-9, 3) C (-1.5, 1) E (2,-4) G (9.5,-1) B (-4, 3) D (2,-1) F (8.5,-5) H (2,-1) Determine what shape is formed by tracing all the points you have located.

SAMPLE OF DETAILED LESSON PLAN

I. Objectives: At the end of 1.5 hours discussion, the students should be able to: a. write correctly the following tags: heading, paragraph, break and horizontal rule. b. use attributes of the discussed tags. c. develop appreciation of different functions of tags.

II. Subject Matter A. Topic: Heading, Paragraph, Break, and Horizontal Rule B. Materials: newspaper, visual aid C. Reference: Book: SysBase e-Learning System pp. 12-16 URL: http://www.alternetwebdesign.com/htmltutorial http://www.w3schools.com/html/default.asp
III. Procedure

Teacher Activity
A. Preparation 1. Prayer 2.. Greetings Good morning students! Happy New Year! How did you spend your vacation? What is your New Years resolution? 3. Checking of attendance, distribution of name tags 4.Review What ahave we discussed last meeting? Can you share it with the class? I will give 5 points for that. Who can write the basic HTML document on the board for 5 points? How about a title, background color, body?

Student Activity
A student leads the prayer.

Good morning sir! Happy New Year! I spent my Christmas vacation by My New Years resolution is

Sir, we have discussed about elements, tags, attributes, background color, etc. Student writes the HTML document. Student adds the title, background color, body

Teacher Activity
5. Motivation You already have seen what your webpage looks like, right? Would you like to add some tags to make it more attractive just like your Friendster with lots of colors and pictures? Alright then, we shall discuss some more tags. 6. Lesson Proper Today we will learn about heading, paragraph, break, and horizontal rule. (Post visual aid, let the students copy.) (Post newspaper front page) A. HEADING What are displayed in this newspaper? Which do you think is the heading here? Heading- the topic of your webpage that tells what your webpage is all about. It separates text and introduces new topics. The heading tags used for this purpose varies in size (refer newspaper). In your web page, it should also vary. The heading tags are <H1></H1> <H2></H2> <H3></H3> <H4></H4> <H5></H5> <H6></H6> Yes sir!

Student Activity

Yes

Students copy the visual aid

Pictures, texts, frames, etc Heading is the headline.

biggest

smallest

Teacher Activity
Should be written inside the body element (Post example of heading) Attribute of heading -Alignment By default, where do you think your text is aligned, left, center, right? <H1 ALIGN=LEFT></H1> <H2 ALIGN=RIGHT></H2> <H6 ALIGN=CENTER</H6> Who can help me write the heading for our html basic document. B. PARAGRAPH What are paragraphs? ( refer newspaper) For this use the tag <P></P> in the body element. It tells the browser to make a paragraph. When you already have one, add another paragraph with the same tag. You can add as many paragraphs as you want. You can also make alignment for paragraphs. (Post example!) Left

Student Activity

Student writes the heading tag

Paragraphs contains significant amount of text in a paragraph format.

Who would like to write the paragraph aligned left in our html document?
C. BREAK Forced line break allow you to decide where the text will break on a line. It is written just after the text where you would want to break. It has no closing tag. Example: Juan dela Cruz <BR> MUST <BR> Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City <BR> Philippines<BR> Who can write a forced line break tag in our html document?

Student writes a paragraph

Student writes the break tag

Teacher Activity
D. HORIZONTAL RULE Could you scan your notes regarding Horizontal rule? What is it about? It has no closing tag The horizontal rule has the following attributes: size, width, noshade, align, color. (Post visual aid) Who can help me add a horizontal rule tag? What about the attributes (refer visual aid)?

Student Activity

The horizontal rule <HR> tag produces a horizontal line the width of the browser. It divides your web page.

Student writes the horizontal rule tag Student adds the attribute

IV. Recapitulation Today I have learned about ________________? V. Evaluation Add the following tags in your web page: Headings, paragraph, breaks, and horizontal rule VI. Assignment Search for more tags and attributes in the internet.
