WEBADI AN OVERVIEW
1. What is It? :

Oracle Web Application Desktop Integrator(WebADi): is a Framework that provides Oracle E-Business Suite integration with an endless set of

familiar desktop utilities.

Where the user can use familiar Desktop Applications like Microsoft Excel,
Word, and other Project Applications for Oracle Apps.

Features

Metadata driven framework Allows data to be downloaded and uploaded to Oracle E-Business Suite from desktop applications Supports Oracle Application Framework artifacts like

Flex fields
Lists of Values

Leverages Oracle E-Business Security Model

Supports Concurrent Manager for import programs

Prerequisites

The following are the prerequisites for Web ADI: Client PC with Windows ME, Windows NT 4.0 (with Service Pack 3 or later), Windows 98, Windows 2000, or Windows XP or Later installed on it.

A Web browser supported by the E-Business Suite installed on the client PC. (See Oracle MetaLink note 389422.1, "Recommended Browsers for Oracle Applications," for the list of supported browsers.)
Microsoft Excel 2000, 2002, or 2003 or later installed on the client PC.

Settings

Internet Explorer settings: 1. Go to Tools > Internet Options 2. Click on the Security tab 3. Ensure that the Internet option is selected/highlighted 4. Click Custom Level... (this launches the security settings for the Internet zone) 5. Scroll down until you see Allow status bar updates via script (under the Scripting option). Click Enable 6. Click OK to save this screen 7. Click OK

MS Office Settings (For Excel 2007): 1. Open Excel 2007. 2. Click the Office Button (top-left most button in the window) i.e. File Button 3. Click the Excel Options button. 4. Click Trust Center in the menu on the left. 5. Click Trust Center Settings in the window on the right. 6. In the new window that opens click Macros in the menu on the left. 7. Check the box next to Trust Access to the VBA project object model. 8. Click OK. 9. Click OK.

If you want to use WebADi from a Particular drive only: 1. Open Excel 2007. 2. Click the Office Button (top-left most button in the window) i.e. File Button 3. Click the Excel Options button.

4. Click Trust Center in the menu on the left.


5. Click Trust Center Settings in the window on the right. 6. In the new window that opens click Trusted Location in the menu on the left. 7. Click on Add New Location 8. In the new window that opens write your Location e.g. C:\WEB ADI\ 9. Click OK. 10. Click OK.

Start Using WebADi


1) In R12 , the starting point would be responsibility called Desktop Integration

2) Navigate Create Document:- This is one of submenu you have to choose , to create a document first.

3) Select the Integrator

4) Select the Viewer

5) Select the layout

6) Review And Save

Enter Data

After Saving as Blank the excel File is ready for Entries. Here Except Journal Description And Journal Reference field All are Predefined i.e. You just need to double click on fields to enter data's. Here if you want to upload only selected entries, then in Upl column By Double click Little flag will appear. This shows that this entries are selected. After all entries Click on Add-inns Oracle Upload. Add-inns button will be at top Right Of your Excel sheet.

The template which gets downloaded has limited number of rows, is it possible to increase the rows? ANS: Yes we can Increase the rows. The Excel Template In which we are Working Is in Protected Mode so To increase Rows We just need to Unprotect it. (Go to Review-> Unprotect sheet) now By normal excel roots we can add As many Rows We want to Add. we can find this massage for unprotecting in Excel template also at bottom. After making An Entry in Excel Template once, how can we identify which entries were already Uploaded? ANS: Once the entry is Successfully Uploaded It will Show Green Colored Smiley in Message Column. Other Color Smiles Are Indications of different errors.

What is Use of Automatically Submit Journal Import Check Box In Uploading Window?

ANS: By Clicking this Check box on, we get excel Template entries Directly Imported into JV form. Otherwise we need to run Import Excel Journals Request From JV Form.

Can we Upload Unbalanced Entry From Excel Template? ANS: Yes We can Upload Unbalance Entry. To Upload Such, Entry Tick on Upload Unbalanced Journals Check Box in The Window That Open When We select Upload Option In Excel. Further We can Modify too from JV From After Uploading. Can we Modify Layout Of Excel Template That gets Download From oracle? ANS: Yes we Can Modify it. To Modify Layout, Mapping, and other Setup.
