Rubric
I wasnt sure if I needed to post my rubric under the assignment tab, but I did anyways. I would be using these two rubrics as a way for student to assess themselves. Once the students present their work to their group members and give each other feedback, they

will be filling out these two rubrics and handing them in.
I want my students to be able to reflect on the work that theyve done, even if its as simple as how well they worked in a group.

Ticket out the Door

I will be giving the students a Ticket out the Door at the end of the 2nd day. I will be using this as a formative assessment. Hopefully I will receive the type of feedback I need to make learning as best as possible. If students are having struggles and I need to extend this unit to longer than 6 days, hopefully this Ticket out the Door will be a way for students to communicate that. I want to see where my students are at with the material we are covering and what questions they have going forward.

Summative Assessment
For the summative assessment, I will be grading their work from the week. Students will be turning in a one page summary along with a fictional story on the natural disaster they have chosen.

The standards I am using for the ONE PAGE SUMMARY are: W.4.4 - Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development and organization are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience

L.4.1 - Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English

grammar and usage when writing or speaking. The objective is: Students will write a one paper with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion on their natural disaster using the information they found from the previous days.

Summative Assessment
The standards I am using for the FICTIONAL STORY are: W.4.3 - Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences. L.4.1 - Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.

The objective is:

Students will write a fictional story involving the natural disaster they have researched. They must include jargon related to their topic.
