A “People” of Glory 1 Peter 2:9-12 9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. A “People” of Glory 1 Peter 2:9-12 (cont.) 11 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, 12 having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation. A “Chosen People” Deuteronomy 10:15 The Lord delighted only in your fathers, to love them; and He chose their descendants after them, you above all peoples, as it is this day. A “Chosen People” Exodus 19:5-6 5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. 6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel. A “Chosen People” Jeremiah 32:37-42 37 Behold, I will gather them out of all countries where I have driven them in My anger, in My fury, and in great wrath; I will bring them back to this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely. 38 They shall be My people, and I will be their God; A “Chosen People” Jeremiah 32:37- 42 (cont.) 39 then I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them and their children after them. 40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from doing them good; but I will put My fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from Me. A “Chosen People” Jeremiah 32:37- 42 (cont.) 41 Yes, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will assuredly plant them in this land, with all My heart and with all My soul. 42 For thus says the Lord: Just as I have brought all this great calamity on this people, so I will bring on them all the good that I have promised them. A “Chosen People” As a Nation, Israel Failed to Fulfill God’s Call Upon It’s Life. 1. Failed to Love God. 2. Failed to Trust God. 3. Failed to Obey God.
Failed to Fill The Earth With His Glory!
A “Chosen People” Matthew 21:43 Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it. A “Chosen People” Romans 11:11-12 11 I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But through their fall, to provoke them to jealousy, salvation has come to the Gentiles. 12 Now if their fall is riches for the world, and their failure riches for the Gentiles, how much more their fullness! A “Chosen People” Romans 11:25-29 25 For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: "The Deliverer will come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness A “Chosen People” Romans 11:25-29 (cont.) from Jacob; 27 For this is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins." 28 Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. 29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. A “People” of Glory That ye may show forth - By your whole behaviour, to all mankind. The excellent glory - the virtues, wisdom, and power of Him, Christ, who hath called you out of the darkness of ignorance, error, sin, and misery. - John Wesley (1 Peter 2:9) Living the Kings Way Having been led by the Spirit of God to receive Jesus Christ as our Savior, and feeling led to join ourselves to this community of believers, we do now, in the presence of God and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into this covenant with Jesus our Lord and with one another as members of KingsWay Community Church.
