Family Life
• In the morning My wife
and I would work within
the communes in the
fields or in the factory.
• I would drop the kids off
at school on my way to
the factory.
• Worked with neighbors
in the commune, which
consisted of twelve
families.

• Usual work hours would
be about 11 hours.
• Afterward we ate one
bowl of rice a day.
• Some days dad and I
wouldn’t eat.
• We would usually talk
about current events
and China.

• When growing up
the type of house I
lived in was very
small and crammed.
• I lived with my mom
and dad and two
other brothers.

I played soccer.
• I played baseball when I
was eleven,but stopped

small children.

the children when they
got older.

Chinese Scholars.

through had a huge

using hard work only
