History GSM
GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication)
1 1982 "Group Special Mobile" is created within CEPT
2.1986 A Permanent Nucleus is set up
3.1987 Main radio transmission techniques are chosen, based on
prototype evaluation (1986)
4.1989 GSM becomes an ETSI technical committee
5.1990 The phase 1 GSM900 specification (drafted 1987 - 1990 ) are
frozen, DCS1800 adaptation start
6.1991 First system are running ( Telecom 91 exhibition,…) DCS1800
specification are frozen
7. 1992 All major European GSM900 operators begin commercial
operations

Konfigurasi DualBand System

Sistem dualband terpasang dengan

mengopersikan atau menambahkan
perangkat hardware cabinet BTS DCS
1800 pada sistem GSM 900 yang sudah DCS 1800 GSM900
ada. BTS BTS

Jaringan yang bekerja pada GSM900 dan

DCS 1800, dianggap sebagai suatu
jaringan dengan PLMN tunggal. Integrated
GSM900/DCS1800
OMC BTS
Implementasi jaringan dualband ini dapat
diterapkan dalam beberapa kombinasi
antara lain :
1. Satu BSC dengan satu jenis band BSC
2. Satu BSC dengan dua jenis band GSM900 DCS 1800 OMC
T BTS BTS
3. Satu BTS dengan dua jenis band MSC/HLR
Co-Sited BTS
Hardware DualBand

Spesifikasi MSC DualBand : Spesifikasi MS Dualband &

Mekanisme Penanganan MS DualBand
kemampuan MS)
Mekanisme Dualband
Mekanisme penanganan MS dualband
tersebut dapat dijelaskan sebagai GSM900
berikut :
1.    MS akan dipegang oleh jaringan
DCS 1800 layer pada dua
kondisi idle mode dan dedicated SB900
DB
mode selama tersedia kanal dalam
cakupan radio DCS 1800 DCS1800
3

2. MS dapat ditangani dan

membangun panggilan pada sel 1 2 4
DCS 1800.
3. MS yang berada pada layer GSM DB
DB
900 dapat ditangani ke
layer bawah (DCS 1800) jika
memungkinkan.
4. MS yang berada pada layer DCS
1800 akan dipindahkan
pemegangan kanalnya ke layer atas
(GSM 900 ) jika hanya
diperlukan.

What is GPRS ?

• General Packet Radio Service, new

technology on wireless data communication
that offers mobile data communication
service with a higher bit rate.
• The next step from air interface evolution
which for the first time ever based on
PACKET SWITCH
• “ Always-On” Connection
What can GPRS offer you ?

• An “Always-On” Packet Switch Service

• Maximum data speed up to 171,2 kbps
• Offer high QoS for the users and low Cost
for operators
• Billing alternatives
