ABET Results
Electrical Engineering:
No program shortcomings Will receive 6 years of accreditation
Computer Engineering:
One Concern: Employer survey should have greater response rate and better explain program objectives Will receive 6 years of accreditation regardless, but we will follow up on employer survey methodology
Computer Science:
Accreditation will be extended, but several program weaknesses and concerns identified With faculty effort, it should be possible through the due dilligence response process to address all weaknesses and receive 6 year accreditation
Concern #2: Faculty One part-time instructor did not show evidence of recent professional development activity Possible Solutions: I will work with this instructor to develop a plan for professional development
ABET Follow-up
It is imperative that we establish a standard practice for each area committee to meet and review embedded assessment from the previous semester at the start of each semester, and document the decisions from the review in their minutes. We may be able to simplify the assessment process by using a smaller number of questions from each course from semester to semester to measure achievement of particular learning outcomes.
This will also improve the consistency of the results
We need to look at better processes to consistently collect recent alumni and employer survey data We continue to rely heavily on capstone design for many of the lifelong learning and social issues outcomes
Need to move quickly on moving one credit of senior design into the junior year for a separate seminar addressing these issues and formation of capstone design groups
Now is the opportunity for thorough review and discussion of all of our programs
