RESOURCES ON EARTH AIR Needed for respiration, germination, photosynthesis and combustion. WATER Regulates body temperature, trnsports nutrients, respiratory gases and waste prducts. SOIL Agriculture, construction and habitat for soil organisms.
LIVING THINGS Provide building materials, food, clothes for humans. MINERALS Metals are used in construction and for making useful products. FOSSIL FUELS Provide energy for industries, vehicles and power stations to generate electricity.
The importance of preservation and conservation are: a)To ensure that we have clean air to breathe. b)To ensure that we have clean water for drinking and washing. c)To ensure that the soil is fertile so that plants can grow healthily.
d)To prevent the extinction of plants and animals. e)To reduce the depletion of minerals and fossil fuels.
MEASURES TO REDUCE POLLUTION AND TO PRESERVE AND CONSERVE THE EARTHS RESOURCES
Reduce usage of Earths natural resources. Reuse material whenever possible. Recycle waste material. Restore damages to nature. Find alternative resources such as solar energy. Use less disposable.
RECYCLING RESOURCES Example: Old mining land can be used for housing and agriculture. CONTROLLING AIR POLLUTION Example:Avoid open burning of rubbish. RECYCLING SUBSTANCES Example:Glass, tin, plastic containers and old newspapers can be collected and recycled. CONSERVING WATER Example:Not wasting water to prevent water shortage.
USING RESOURCES EFFICIENTLY AND INTELLIGENTLY Example:Replanting after logging, implementing rotation of crops. KEEPING FOREST RESERVES Example:Using up unfinished exercise books as note books and recycling paper are ways to reduce the felling of trees.
USE OF SUBSTITUTES Example:Replacing the use of substances like metals with other materials like plastic.
the soil is always fertile to support life. minerals and fossil fuels are not depleted by overuse. -The practice of reusing and recycling of materials is a way to ensure that resources on Earth will be there for our use as well as for the use offuture generations.
Reusing refers to using discarded or unwanted materials to save on natures resources. For example, you can reuse your old unfinished exercise books as note books. Recycling refers to the processing of waste materials to become useful things in order to save Earths resources. For example, support for recycling efforts by collecting old newspapers, bottles and aluminium cans for recycling.
Nowadays, recycle bins are placed at various places to encourage people to practise recycling. You should learn how to separate waste materials and put them into the correct bins
