The Respiratory System is what controls breathing. It brings in the oxygen your body needs and gets rid of the carbon dioxide tha is left over. If you didnt breathe, you would pass out or die.
Respiratory System is to supply the blood with oxygen in order for the blood to deliver oxygen to all parts of the body. The Respiratory System does this through breathing. When we breathe, we inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide. This exchange of gases is the respiratory system's means of getting oxygen to the blood.
Nose
When the human body breathes air, it gets sucked through the nostrils You breathe through your nose Your nose starts the respiratory cycle
Pharynx
It is located in your throat Food goes threw it Carries Air threw it down to the windpipe
Epiglottis
A piece of cartilage Blocks food from going to lungs Leaf shaped Covers the top of larynx
Larynx Lar
Also known as the voice box Funnel shaped organ Located in the throat Air passes through the glottis on the way to the lungs Larynx protects the glottis
Vocal cords
Vocal cords are also known as vocal folds Structures in the larynx Designed to vibrate when air is passing by Helps you talk, sing, hum, or cough
TRACHEA
Also known as the wind pipe A tough, flexible tube running from the larynx to the bronchi Trachea branches in the mediastinum into right and left bronchi
Bronchial tree
Part of the internal structure Known as the lung tree Allows humans to exchange air Have little air sacs called Alveoli extend off the end of the smallest bronchioles
LUNGS
A vital organ Your right lung has 3 lobes and your left lung only has 2 The right lung is a little larger than the left lung A person sleeping almost always breathes twelve or fifteen times a minute Pink and spongy
Alveoli
They are tiny air sacs Located In the lungs Come the end of the bronchial trees There are thousands of them
Alveoli
Viruses cause the largest number of respiratory infection examples of the respiratory infections are coughing, colds and sneezing
Cough
Conclusion
You should take care of your Respiratory System because if you dont, you wont be able to breathe. Using drugs can keep your brain from telling your lungs to breathe. Smoking can make your lungs turn black and not work well. Breathing clean air is healthiest for you and exercise keeps your lungs strong. ( Quizzes & Respiratory System e-learning games )
