Introduction

OUR
THINKING!
WE WERE ASKED TO CONDUCT A SURVEY THAT
WOULD PROVE SOMETHING THAT WAS IMPORTANT TO
US; SOMETHING THAT HAD SIGNIFICANCE.

BA AN IDEA HAD

LAB!

WE DECIDED THAT WE
WOULD DO A LITTLE
EXPERIMENT TO SEE IF
EATING BREAKFAST HAD
AN AFFECT ON YOUR
GRADE IN YOUR SECOND
HOUR CLASS.

WE BOTH AGREED THAT

BREAKFAST WOULD HAVE A
SIGNIFICANT IMPACT ON YOUR
SECOND HOUR GRADE!
BREAKFAST IS THE MOST
IMPORTANT MEAL OF THE DAY,
BUT IT IS THE ONE MEAL THAT
PEOPLE CHOOSE TO SKIP THE
MOST!
WE DECIDED ON TWO QUESTIONS TO ASK 40 STUDENTS AT
RANDOM: DO YOU EAT BREAKFAST, AND WHAT IS THE PERCENTAGE
YOU HAVE IN YOUR SECOND HOUR CLASS? IF THE STUDENT DIDN’T
HAVE A SECOND HOUR CLASS, THEN HE/SHE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE
A PART OF OUR EXPERIMENT WE ASKED 20 BOYS AND 20 GIRLS
THESE QUESTIONS. WE RECORDED OUR DATA ON A TABLE THAT WE
MADE. ONE COLUMN STATING BOY OR GIRL. ANOTHER WITH
BREAKFAST OR NO BREAKFAST, AND THE THIRD COLUMN, HAD THE
PERCENTAGE OF THEIR SECOND HOUR CLASS.
THIS IS WHAT WE
FOUND…

FIND IS THAT EATING
BREAKFAST, INFACT,
DOES HAVE A
SIGNIFICANT IMPACT
ON HOW WELL YOU
DO IN SCHOOL!
Discussion…
I would say that box and whisker plots
best represents our
date because it is easy to understand
because you are able to compare both data sets,
those of both boys and girls, and how breakfast
affects the grades of those who eat breakfast
and of those who don’t eat breakfast. It shows
if there are any outliers and it shows what the
middle range, or average percentage is of those
who eat breakfast and of those who do not. We
didn’t have any ouliers in our data either.
But, if we would have outliers, it would have
pulled our measure of central tendency one way
or the other. It also would have changed our
mode, and maybe even our median. It would have
also affected our percentile ranges, which
would make our graphic displays seem
inaccurate.
COMPARISONS
conclusion
We can conclude that eating breakfast
does have a significant impact on your
second hour grade. Breakfast gives you
energy to start your day off right. It gives
you the power to wake up and pay
attention! Therefore, you can get a better
grade in your second hour class if you eat
breakfast! Who would have thought?!

Our Hypothesis
turned out to be
correct as well. We
guessed that
eating breakfast
would help you
brain power! And
it does!

If we would’ve had the chance to make our survey

more accurate, we would have asked more people
our questions. That way we would have had more
data to look at, and that would have made our
experiment much more accurate. The more people,
the better! Also, we would have gone to different
schools; the school might affect the difficulty of
classes!
