Misc en scene:
Car going down lonely road Connotes loneliness, conventional of horror. A prison is shown Connotes again loneliness and gives a scary feel to the trailer. The light shines through the window, the reflection shows almost like prison bars this could be to show the young boys loneliness and how he is isolated. An insect crawling out of the tap shows how something unusual and creepy is happening. a post-box showing name of the victim gives the audience an insight into whom the story is about.

Cinemaphotography:
Slowly zooms in on the car Builds suspense. A slow over the shoulder shot of the child turning Builds suspense. The camera slowly approaches the girl Gives the feeling something behind is creeping up. A trolley shot moving towards the right Almost like unveiling the story. Two shot of girls speaking - Shows fear in both the girls faces, audience begin to share that fear. Slow motion shot of woman walking Tense, she could be walking towards danger. Shot of perpetrator scratching the wall Creepy, instils fear into the audience.

Editing
Screen fades as Dreamworks appears Creepy production title adds the first element of horror. Transparent white blur coming from the people and the lights Adds a ghostly affect the scene. Text referring to the prequal appears between shot transition Reminds the audience of the horror from the first film. Quick change in scene between charactors Wider coverage of characters, more depth to the story. The O in the title is blue and fuzzy standing out from the other letters O is emphasised as a ring, refers to the title of the film.

Sound
Scary music played throughout gives the trailer a creepy feel throughout. The characters speak slowly during the trailer this makes the trailer more tense throughout. Sound effects of screams occur several times this will make the audience jump, and make them want to see the film. Drum beat in the opening scene gives the feel of an introduction to the trailer. Quickening drum beat in the closing scenes this adds suspense and prepares the audience for something scary. During the whole trailer the music quickens throughout again adds suspense and makes the trailer tense.

Narrative Structure
Starts off linear A slow beginning giving insight into the story Montage editing is then apparent in the trailer - done to give more depth into the story and to show different aspects of it.

Themes in the text


A girl from the supernatural world haunts a young boy common convention of a horror film. There is a tape which is watched which then brings forth the girl.

The charactors spend time trying to find a way in which to destroy the tape/the girl conventional horror theme, trying to find a way to solve the problem

Audience Response
The audience will respond to all different techniques used in the trailer. The scary music makes the audience feel fearful and tense. The quick scene transitions keep the trailer snappy and not prolonged too much, this helps the audience to stay entertained as there is much going on as apposed too one long boring clip. Dark colours are used all the ay through the trailer, the colour scheme has a grey tinge overlooking all scenes, this gives the trailer a creepy feel too it as black and grey connote death and nothingness.
