Girltopia will be a jam-packed, one-day festival of activities, games, learning, performances, mentoring, clinics, laughing, fashion shows, dancing, meet & greets, inspiration, and friends (furry and non)! Girltopia has three components:
The high-energy expo floor Featuring six (6) program villages: Leadership Arts & culture Business smarts Environment & outdoor adventure STEM (science & technology) The awesome Teen Summit Leadership Wellness & healthy living Conference for Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors: Exclusive luncheon w/ keynote speaker Workshops covering teen-focused topics such as career, inner beauty, and anti-bullying A dynamic main stage: Opening & closing ceremonies Performances Celebrity Panel

Logistics

Parking: Parking is available at the convention center or in nearby


public lots LA Convention Center Parking ranges from $15-$20. Public lots can range from $10-$20. Parking costs are subject to change. Public transportation is encouraged; visit www.metro.net.

Logistics
Food: You can bring your own lunch/snacks! Food is also available for purchase. There are designated eating areas, including the carpeted floor space in the middle of the expo. Coolers/ice chests are not permitted in the convention center. Convention Center food prices range between $10-15 per lunch. What to bring: Money patches, noodle heads, fun shop items (and food) will be available for sale Energy Girltopia is an high-energy, active, fun, all-day event! Patience Because Girltopia exhibitors are required to supply programming or an activity. As any festival, carnival, or amusement park, you will inevitably have occasion to wait in line. What to wear: Girltopia T-shirt (available at all GSGLA council shops) Girl Scout sash/vest Comfortable walking shoes (Girltopia requires a lot of walking and standing)

Design your own Girltopia charm while watching the Girl Scout talent show. Make your own SWAP necklace and exchange SWAPs from fellow Girl Scouts.

Leadership Caf
Learn the Recipe for Success by talking to women leaders from a wide variety of careers. Theyll share with you the ingredients for a yummy future! Create your own bead & charm filled keychain as you visit the various booths & activities in the Leadership & Business Village

Environment and Outdoor Adventure
Come and experience kayaking and paddle boarding at our GSGLA interactive camp display. Learn about our solar system while enjoying our very own planetarium and telescopes.

Wellness Healthy Living


Participate in fun clinics and activities featuring sports, dance, cheer, and more in the expanded Sport Zone! Learn about healthy eating and nutrition, while dressing up like your favorite fruits and vegetables.

STEM
Be a part of the Video Game Design Patch Program launch. Participate in Freeze Tag Robots and fun games at the STEAM Carnival!

Points to Consider:
There will be a separate Keynote speaker luncheon for each level, presented by Deloitte!

Each participant must wear the wristbands for Girltopia entrance.


There will be VIP Passes for entrance into Teen Summit.

Session information will be printed on the back on the VIP Passes The Mandatory Health History form and Mandatory Permission Slip will need to be
folded and placed behind the VIP pass.

Each participant will also receive a special gift and goody bag!
Some of the amazing items include : Products from OPI, Murad, and Litgirl, and additional items such as a chap stick and a book! Participants arriving early will receive their goody bag as they enter Girltopia.

Volunteers are still needed!


Due to this being an all girl event we need to assure the volunteer numbers help us meet the ratios needed. Please consider volunteering to make this a safe and fun event for all older girls.

In addition to the Girl Scout talent show, dance contests, tech fashion show, hula hoop-a-palooza and more happening in the villages and on the expo floor, Girltopia will also feature live bands, a celebrity empowerment panel and autograph area at the main stage! Get excited for an explosion of talent performing, including:

Volunteer Information
The Volunteer Check-In Booth Check will be located downstairs on the main floor. Everyone, upon check-in, will be given the location of their assigned volunteer position, or in some cases, you will be escorted to the location. Any further directions will also be given at this time. Four information kiosks will be situated on the convention floor, staffed with people who can answer any questions concerning volunteering or locations of areas or facilities.

There will be a lead person in each area to ensure breaks are given and to relive volunteers at the end of their shift. Volunteers should not leave their post until relieved by a lead.
All volunteers must check in at least 15 minutes before their shift start time.

Volunteer Information
Volunteers will receive a complimentary event T-shirt and wrist band(s) upon check-in. Volunteers should wear comfortable pants and shoes, as there will be a great deal of walking. After checking in at the Volunteer Check-In Booth to enter the event, volunteers are welcome to enjoy the event before or after your assigned shift time. Parking for event volunteers will be offered for $10 in a specific lot. Vouchers and the location of the lot will be emailed to all registered event volunteers. $10 parking will not be available at the LACC .

Adult Hospitality Lounge


The adult hospitality lounge will be available for all adults to go and take a moment to relax and recharge their batteries. The lounge will offer: Light refreshments Comfy couches to relax Table games A quiet place to eat lunch

Heritage Committee

We are looking for girls interested in being a part of a fashion show at Girltopia
Girls must be a registered Girl Scout and registered to attend Girltopia.

Wristbands
Wristbands for Girltopia will be mailed in batches beginning Oct. 11 Wristbands and badges for Teen Summit for Cadettes will be mailed beginning Oct.11. Wristbands and badges for Teen Summit for Seniors/Ambassadors will be mailed in last batch by Oct. 28. Mailed to primary attendee for group. If a girl is shown as the primary attendee for Girltopia and there are no adults in the group, then wristbands are mailed to the billing address provided. Replacement of lost or never received wristbands will NOT be available the day of the event. Wristbands not received due to incorrect addresses provided, will incur a replacement charge. If not received by Oct. 31, please contact registration@girltopiala.org.

Safety & Security at Girltopia 2013


Follow Girl Scout safety check points and Volunteer Essentials Safety volunteers to assist throughout the day Procedures in place for emergency evacuation Partnership with Los Angeles Convention Center in Downtown Los Angeles
All First Aid Station responders have walkie-talkies and communicate with HQ as needed. Serious injuries/illness handled immediately. ALL 911 Emergency calls placed and managed at HQ. On site security provide support.

Safety & Security at Girltopia 2013


Troops: First Aider must attend with troop. First Aid Stations: Village sites, program areas, main stage [Level II responders/American Red Cross] Parents/guardians are asked to be on-call during the weekend if not attending Girltopia . Reminder girls must have an up-to-date health history form to attend.
There will not be a secure place for purses or other personal belongings. Please keep your belongings with you. GSGLA is not responsible for lost or misplaced items. Please leave valuables at home. The Lost and Found will be located at the Volunteer Check-In Booth.

GSGLA Property Strategic Planning


The GSGLA Property Strategic Planning Process, Voices to Vision, has been launched! This process is the first thorough analysis of the councils four camps and ten program centers and will assess our facilities in a fiscally responsible way and help meet the needs of girls today and tomorrow.

Town hall meetings will be an opportunity to literally voice your opinions, thoughts, and ideas regarding the GSGLA property plan and future program opportunities! PROPERTY PLANNING PROCESS FOCUS GROUPS In-person focus groups with girls, troop leaders, and volunteers to discuss property planning. Participants will be compensated. Held Wednesday, October 16, 2013 in Montrose and Thursday, October 17, 2013 in Downtown LA. Sessions will be 90 minutes and will be held at the following times: 4:00 pm for 2nd & 3rd graders, must arrive by 3:40 pm 5:45 pm for 4th & 5th graders, must arrive by 5:25 pm 7:30 pm for adult volunteers, must arrive by 7:10 pm (Separate one-on-one sessions will be held for girls in 6th grade and above.) Interested in participating?
