Micro-hydropower System
Micro Hydropower
a hydro system with a rated capacity up to approximately 100 kW. usually run-of-the-river installations one of the most environmentally benign energy conversion options available can be used decentralized from the national grid and be locally implemented and managed.
Micro Hydropower Support Project for Irrigation of Highland Farming Communities of Aquino and San Pedro, Tiaong, Quezon Objectives: 1. To operationalize a 20-30 kW microhydropower scheme to generate electricity to pump water to an elevation of 590 m for irrigation purposes for the highland farming communities of Brgy. Aquino and San Pedro;
Objectives: 2. To enable farmer-beneficiaries to utilize precision irrigation technologies (sprinkler or drip irrigation systems) for the target Baguiovegetable production project for the service area; 3. To help enable farmer-beneficiaries to enhance their livelihood opportunities as influenced by the availability of irrigation water through the MHP project;
Objectives: 4. To enable farmer-beneficiaries to have access to generated electricity for basic lighting requirements of the needy households of the beneficiary barangays; 5. to help enable the target beneficiaries to care for the watershed of the creek that provides the steamflow that drives the MHP.
Establishment of Micro-Hydropower Support System in Selected Highland Farming Communities in CALABARZON Region
Objectives: 1. To assess potential sites for the microhydropower support system in the provinces of Laguna, Rizal and Quezon;
Objectives: 2. To establish an operationalize a 20-30 kW micro-hydropower scheme to generate electricity to pump water necessary for irrigating highland farming communities; 3. To increase productivity in highland farming thru the availability of irrigation; 4. To provide access to electricity in some remote communities from the selected municipalities in Laguna, Rizal and Quezon.
Further recognizing the huge potential of micro-hydropower in preserving running water such as falls and streams, DOST 4A conducted assessment of the site for San Ysidro Micro-hydropower Project in Antipolo City in Rizal Province. With a proposed budget of PhP2M still awaiting approval, LGU-Antipolo City, DOST is targeting a potential power generation of 169,894 kw/h for a 21 kW capacity. The annual estimated amount of generation is PhP 849,468.00
Potential Micro Hydropower Project Sites in Bato Resort, San Pablo City, Laguna and Manasa Resort, Lucban, Quezon
Objectives: 1. To assess potential sites for the microhydropower support system for tourism development in the provinces of Laguna, Rizal and Quezon;
Harness the Natures Free Energy for the Economic Benefit of the Rural Community
