How It Works ?

How Long Can An Organ Stay Fresh

30 hours or less = Kidney Less than 12 hours = Pancreas Or Liver Less than 6 hours = Heart Or Lungs *These times vary because of the relative speed at which deterioration begins in the organs' tissues.

Organ Donation Situation In Malaysia

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO)'s Global Observatory on Donation and Transplantation (GODT) 2010, at 0.7 per million population (pmp).

THE RATE OF ORGAN DONATIONS FROM DECEASED DONORS IN MALAYSIA IS AMONG THE LOWEST IN THE WORLD !!!!

A report dated 31 Jan 2013 : Total of 16,479 people on the waiting list. Of that, 16,449 are waiting for new kidneys. In 2012, there were only 44 cadaveric donors (hence, 88 kidneys). An average person has to wait 10 years to get a new kidney

AVERAGE OF 18 DEATHS PER DAY!!!

Alternatives
A man made heart without a pulse. Made with one purpose which is to pump blood thought the body. Still impossible because manufacturing a metal and plastic heart capable of beating that way for more than about 18 months has so far proved impossible.

Growing Organs in Lab Though it has successful results , it is still a new finding and the long term effect is unknown Chances of organ failing is high , It takes a long time for the body to enable it to work and at times the body may not adapt to the organ Lab grown organs can only live for 10 years .

Factors Leading to Shortage of Organs

INCREASING SUCCESS RATE OF ORGAN TRANSPLATATION - Due to the high success rate of organ transplant, more people has resorted to this resulting in the shortage of organ RELUCTANCE TO BECOME ORGAN DONORS - Most family of the deceased are reluctant to agree to organ donation based on reasons such as POOR EXPOSURE TOWARDS THE IMPORTANCE OF ORGAN DONATION - Most people are not educated on how vital is organ donation and how much good it can do.

RELIGIOUS VIEWS - Religious views vary depending on how one interprets their religious views
