Test 1: Vehicle safety check

From the safety point of view, there are 4 most important fluids in a car. On the exam you only check 1 of them: a) engine oil (min/ max) b) screenwasher fluid (there always should be sufficient amount of this fluid for driving) c) brake fluid (min/ max) d) coolant (min/ max) You have to open the bonnet, present where the fluid is located and explain what is the proper fluid level. Instead of checking fluids you may be asked to check if the horn is working properly.

Test 2: Lights checkup


The vehicle is equipped with 8 different lights: a) position lights b) low beam lights c) high beam lights d) rear fog lights e) hazard lights f) indicators g) brake lights/ STOP lamps h) reverse lights

On the exam you only check 1 of them.


You must switch the lights on and check whether they are working properly.

Test 3: Prepare for driving


a) adjust your distance from the steering wheel, backrest angle, seat height, headrest height, steering wheel in both positions and seatbelts height b) adjust external and internal mirrors c) fasten the seatbelts d) make sure the door are shut e) startup the engine f) switch on the headlights if necessary g) release the hand brake if necessary h) look around the vehicle and make sure it's possible to start driving

Test 4: The turn between the poles


a) Take the starting position in a boxed area and slowly drive forward using 1st gear. Do not stop until you are fully in a final boxed area. b) When reversing do it very slowly. Use both external mirrors and rear window. Do not look through the windscreen when reversing. Stop in a boxed area. If you hit the post or drive through the solid line, the exam will be terminated and failed. If you overrun the solid line or stop while driving between the boxed areas the test will be failed and you can try the test one more time.

Test 5: Hill start


a) drive onto the hill and stop with the 4 wheels completely on a hill b) switch on the handbrake c) switch to the 1st gear d) increase engine revolutions to min. 2000 RPM e) release clutch and stop it half way f) quickly switch off hand brake g) continue releasing clutch slowly If you fail in first turn you can try one more time.

1. Joining the traffic a) After leaving WORD gate, look around for pedestrians and then vehicles on the road b) Give way to everyone in the traffic

2. Passing stopped vehicles/ overtaking vehicles a) Use indicators when passing a vehicle on the road b) When passing cyclists make sure there is at least 1m distance

3. Pedestrians a) Pedestrians who already entered the crossing have priority b) Do not give priority to pedestrians who have red signal for them 4. Intersections without priority signs a) Give way to vehicles on your right hand side b) If you are turning left give way also to oncoming vehicles (going straight or turning right)

5. Tram crossing a) watch the trams when you are near the tram crossing b) try not to stop on the rails 6. Priority signs a) Watch the road markings and stop the vehicle near the triangles if you have to give way to others b) Always stop the vehicle at the solid line if there is a STOP sign, regardless the traffic

7. Light signals controlling traffic a) Yellow signal means STOP. You may go only if you are so close to the stop line, that to pull up might cause an accident b) Additional green arrow may be provided when turning right. Always stop vehicle first (the car standing still) and then if the green arrow is still there, continue driving carefully watching the pedestrians and the traffic on your left hand side

8. Parking a) There are 2 different methods of parking possible (parralel and perpendicular) b) On the exam you only park one time if the first trial is successful. There are 2 trials possible (each of them has one possible correction) 9. Speed a) do not exceed 50 km/h or other speed limits shown on the signs b) try to drive close to the speed limit c) do not exceed the speed even when overtaking a vehicle

10. U-turns a) when making u-turn on a roundabout always use left lane b) show your indicators when making u-turns c) watch the pedestrians when reversing during u-turns 11. Position on the carriageway/ lane a) drive close to the right side of the road b) pull to the side where you are turning c) do not overrun or cross solid lines d) When crossing dotted line always use indicator e) When changing lane make sure you can do it safely and there is sufficient space on nearby lane to do so

12. Buses and bus stops a) The bus has a priority if it's signaling leaving the bus stop. b) Bus has also priority if it's changing the lane directly after leaving the bus stop 13. During your driving you may be asked to stop the car at the side of the road in the place appointed by the examinator. In such a case pull right with indicator. Use left indicator for joining the traffic and give way to other vehicles.
