Different Pharmacy Options
 Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (PharmD) -

Pharmacy Program Overview
 Minimum 2 yr preparation
• Most applicants have 3 or more years of
coursework
 Four year PharmD program
• NOT Bachelor’s degree!!!
 Pharmacy course schedule
• First 3 years classroom instruction
• 10 required clerkships
 1 in the summer after the first and second year
 8 during the fourth year

Honors Program Preparation
 Things you can do in 1st and 2nd years:
•1) Maintain an overall GPA of at least 3.2.
•2) Read about research. Search the OUR database for research
opportunities. Think about the types of research that you would
like to do. Talk to faculty about research options in their labs or
other labs on campus.
•3) Work to achieve mastery of research skills. Take lab and
core courses as soon as this is feasible in terms of your schedule
and course availability.
•4) Consider volunteering or working in a research lab during the
summer – some programs carry a stipend!
•5) Contact the Honors advisor in your major department for
additional information.
