Putting it all together.. What have you got?

As the question will focus on REPRESENTATION you need to pay particular attention to the characters
What costume are they wearing? How does this reflect society/time period? Hair / Make-up? Do they reflect a particular class? Are the actors attractive do they conform to the character they are playing? How do they talk? Posh (high register)? vocabulary? Accent? Facial expression what does it tell us about them/emotion? Body language open/closed? Position in the frame tight frame = confined/trapped loose framing = loneliness/isolation -> an emotional/physical gap between two people? What could their position in the frame signify about them/others?

Close up to show the emotion a character is going through Wide shot to show the location of the character in the environment and their relationships to one another Two shot to show closeness between characters and physical interaction High angle to show loss of power or vouyeristic view point Low angle to create power or fear of a character Steadicam following action without excessive movement smooth and less noticeable viewer brought
into the action and allows movement without the need to cut

Long takes

a shot that lasts for longer than normal duration draws the viewer into the moment and can create a powerful pause

Action match When intercutting it can show the contrast between two characters Eyeline match provides insight into the characters private thoughts (eye contact with loved ones?)P Final Shot characters shown at the end of a scene are often the characters the audience are intended to
identify with.

Pace the speed of cuts will increase or decrease to raise or lower tension and create intense moods Shot reverse shot to show interaction between two characters and their emotions towards
responses during conversation

Motivated cut

to show the viewer something not immediately visible / create surprise

Type of music beats and instruments give clues to intended audience emotions Enhanced sounds specific sounds picked out and made louder than life to draw the viewers attention Type of music beats and instruments give clues to intended audience emotions
