Audience Profile:

Our target audience is primarily geared towards those who are interested in current affairs, fed up of the way the country is being run and very politically opinionated. As a result of this, I would say that our age range is around 18 !" because this topic re#uires an element of maturity but the character$s% are #uite young, and so it is more relatable to the individuals within this age range. Additionally, our audience are li&ely to be male, primarily because of the use of a young man as the two main characters within the split screen, this poses as more of an identification for males and less so for women. 'owever, if we had e(ecuted the same idea with a female lead then it would be the other way round, so the age and views aren)t necessarily influenced by this choice, instead perhaps more the gender roles. *urthermore, the target audience are more li&ely to be caucasian, again, only because the young white male lead is easier to identify with.

Our music video and print production deal with the binary opposition between classes, primarily between the A class, who)s -ob roles usually include a managerial.e(ecutive position within corporate or government organisation and the /.,.0 classes, involving the lower middle class, s&illed laborers and the wor&ing class. 1herefore, we are targeting this /., area as these individuals are more commonly passionate about the social divide between classes and in e#uality of wealth. 2oreover, it is evident that these classes are passionate about the class divide from some of the footage we have recorded in the music video3 the teacher protest indicated that individuals within this profession and similar stand up for what is right, &nowing when the higher classes are un-ustly acting to create smaller money and difficulty within lower class sectors. 1eachers could be seen as fitting within the , category, or the lower middle class in terms of social ran&ing and so it is safe to assume from the evidence that this collective social class are more li&ely to be apposed to social ine#uality.

Additionally, this means that individuals within our target audience are li&ely to be well educated, such as A level #ualifications or higher and furthermore have an interest in current affairs. 1his combination as well as the spirit to actually oppose un-ust movements is a #uality that the ma-ority of our targeted audience will hold.

2embers of our target audience would li&ely have a dress sense and style similar to the protestor character within our music video, clean and casual, with the absence of e(pensive brands such as 4ouis 5uitton, 6ucci, Prada and more focused upon cheaper brands, or unbranded products. 1his lin&s in with their social class as discussed in the previous slide, although not all of the /., class individuals are li&ely to dress in the same casual style, the ma-ority of individuals who are from these classes and display an interest in 7music with a voice8 i.e. bands.trac&s that convey applicable meaning to current affairs are li&ely to abide by the particular style portrayed by the protestor within the video.

1he casual style I am referring to would most li&ely entail -eans, trainers, t shirts and beanie hats3 most li&ely they would be from stores without established branding such as 1opman or ' 9 2, but reasonably cheap sportswear seems to be a common trend as well i.e. :i&e, Adidas, :ew /alance. 1his style can be seen with *old itself and similar artists such as Portishead $bottom right%, showing bands influence on loyal audiences.

Interest in other music

Our target audience are li&ely to be interested in genres similar to *old, such as, alternative roc&, trip hop, hip hop, spo&en word and e(perimental genres. 1his is as li&e *old, the ma-ority of artists that conform to these genres produce trac&s that have meaning and spea& of issues that are sub-ect to controversy within current affairs. *or e(ample, ;adiohead)s 7*itter 'appier8 features a computeri<ed voice reading out what would seem to be considered as an idealistic life style within our society3 however, the music itself becomes very sad and ominous and the last lyric is 7a pig in a cage on antibiotics8. 1his trac& is portraying the idea that while we believe we are living a free, fun and unrestricted lifestyle we are actually trapped in a controlled regime, nurtured enough to &eep us from brea&ing out. 1his type of song is a perfect e(ample of the type of music our target audience would listen to, alternatively e(ecuted, deep underlying meaning revolving around current social issues and very non generic. Additionally, spo&en word is another type of music that is li&ely to appeal to our target audience, +croobius Pip)s music for e(ample touches on a variety of issues from consumerism to modern news. One of my personal favourite trac&s of his is 70eath of the =ournalist8, a trac& that perfectly delves in to how modern -ournalism has become la<y and irrelevant3 spo&en word is a piece of music that submits itself more as a speech than anything else, sometimes overlaid upon music, sometimes not, an interesting medium that again ties in with the appeals of our target audience. *old uses speech samples within it)s trip hop trac&s, and so it)s easy to see how audiences that en-oy *old would also li&e spo&en word poets such as +croobius Pip.

Interest in *ilm.15
1he visual media of which our target audience is li&ely to consume would rely on films and television that have storylines commenting on the political and economical state of the world, perhaps representing it currently, hypothetically or e(aggerating how it operates presently. In terms of television, our audience may en-oy programs such as 7/lac& 2irror8, a mini tv series created by ,harlie /roo&er that aims to show a dar& and in some places rather satirical view of life and technology. Additionally, our audience may en-oy 71he ;evolution >ill /e 1elevised8 another satirical show that directly targets hypocrisy in a rather humorous way. *or e(ample, one of the s&etches involves a character named 0ale 2aily, a rather comedic po&e at the renown conservatist newspaper, his character mishears facts and over e(aggerates them.

In terms of *ilm, 75 for 5endetta8 is a great e(ample of the sort of movie our audience would en-oy3 set in dystopic 4ondon, it follows the footsteps of 5, an anarchist who plots terrorist attac&s in order to counter the brutal fascist regime. 1he film has been very influential to political activists and the populari<ation of the 6uy *aw&es mas& used in the film has led to it being a mass symbol for the anarchist group 7Anonymous8. *urthermore, the use of dystopia is common in the films our audience would en-oy, film is a canvas upon which we can pro-ect our thoughts and fears about the current and future state of the world in such a way to scare, yet ignite the people. 1his idea in essence e(plains why our target audiences would en-oy films such as 75 for 5endetta8, 71?8@8 and 71he 2atri(8 because it is comment on how society operates or could operate in a e(aggerated fantasy li&e manner. Additionally, films such as 7,apitalism: A 4ove +tory8 and 72il&8 would also pea& interest, the first being a true documentary and the latter being a biographical film focusing upon 'arvey 2il&, a gay rights activist and politician.
