Introduction
A most promising energy solution today is to harness the kinetic power of the Ocean waves and flowing currents of Sea or River. Many projects are underway and they aim to generate enough electrical energy for millions of homes without burning fossil fuels. These forces of nature are free, steady and predictable.
meaning there are 36 kilowatts of power potential per meter of wave crest.
P = F .. x (1- r)
where F - is the wave force X - is the amplitude of motion r - is the ratio of amplitude of motion to optimum amplitude of motion

When the motion is highly constrained, r ---> 0, then the power capture is proportional to the incident wave force, not the incident wave power intensity given above. This is evident for shallow water converters where the water depth is less than a quarter of the wave wavelength.
where - is the applied hydrodynamic damping coefficient (in Ns/m) - is the angular velocity (in rad/s) X - is the amplitude of motion (in m)
