KBSR

was introduced on 1982. Weaknesses on KLSR, led to KBSR. KBSR is balance and aligned with Falsafah Pendidikan Negara.

KLSR

was implemented during late 1980s. However there are many comments on this Curiculum whereby it doesnt fit the students needs. The content of the KLSR was not dependent among other subjects at makes it hard to be implemented well. The content was bored to students. Weakness of KLSR :

Not balanced Stressed only on the surface

It would result in fewer subject :-subjects related will be combined. Ministry will be setting a new examination rule for combined subjects.

Modul

replace text books KSSR divide the subject intro 3 modul-Modul Asas Teras- Modul Asas Tema-Modul Asas Elektif Level 1(year 1-2) -focus on 4 M; membaca, menulis, mengira, menaakul Level 2(year 3 - 6) -focus on application of 4M.

Vision 2020 was initiated by Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Malaysian Prime Minister, on February 28, 1991 and since then it has become a major guideline for any policy formulation in the country, not excluding the education policy. The basic aim of this vision is to create a"developed Malaysia" by the year 2020. It will cover overall achievement in term of national unity, social integration, economic standard, social justice, political stability and improving the quality of life, both in the social and spiritual aspects as well as in instilling pride and confidence of the nation.

The future nation has to be more experienced and mature society. It also emphasizes the essence of creating a progressive society with highly scientific and technological achievement and these all require quality human resources with a base of quality education system. How to harmonize and coordinate the education system that will suit such demands? Some proposed reformations are suggested in the school structure, curriculums, teaching techniques and pupils career development in relation to real working life at current and future demands. The Eight Proposal

Dr Mahathir outlined nine strategic challenges that Malaysia must overcome to achieve Vision 2020.[1][2][4]

Challenge 1: Establishing a united Malaysian nation made up of one Bangsa Malaysia (Malaysian Race). Challenge 2: Creating a psychologically liberated, secure and developed Malaysian society. Challenge 3: Fostering and developing a mature democratic society. Challenge 4: Establishing a fully moral and ethical society. Challenge 5: Establishing a matured liberal and tolerant society. Challenge 6: Establishing a scientific and progressive society. Challenge 7: Establishing a fully caring society. Challenge 8: Ensuring an economically just society, in which there is a fair and equitable distribution of the wealth of the nation. Challenge 9: Establishing a prosperous society with an economy that is fully competitive, dynamic, robust and resilient

Reflection:

Does KBSR and KSSR developed and implemented in school are able to achieve all the nine challenges?
