INTRODUCTION
 There are over 1500 huge bodies functioning directly or
indirectly under the Government of India.
Governments require a medium or machinery to reach
everyone instantly and address their needs.
In order to attain its basic objective of reaching the masses
the Government must seriously consider giving greater
emphasis on IT enabled applications and tools .
This is exactly where the term “e-governance” comes into
picture.

ISSUES THAT CONCERN US TODAY


Imagine that any individual intending to start an industry .
most of the time would be spent in filing the application forms and
tackling the inspectors and other officials of concerned departments.
departments do not know what other related departments or
counter-parts are doing or certifying.
More than three crore cases in various courts at various levels are
pending as on date.
They are left with no alternative than to take refuge in the IT
enabled tools and services.

E-GOVERNANCE AS ONE STOP SOLUTION

 E-governance is basically providing governance through electronic


solutions such as computerization and integration of computerized
solutions.
 Most important object of e-governance is to reach the end users or the
general public.
The time required for interaction with each department separately has
been minimized.
 Better transparency in the activities.

Initiative
Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan have launched the
Chief Minister’s Information System.
VIDYUTNET, India’s first VSAT-based communication network,
supports real-time data applications for power generation and
distribution.
Tamil Nadu’s tele-medicine project allows doctors in remote areas to
consult experts on special cases or for referral purposes through a
direct ISDN link.
Rajasthan’s Vikas Darpan envisages a geographical information
system (GIS)-based planning and decision support system.

CONCLUSION
Development of a nation with such diversity such as India depends on
the people who should be able to use computers and other IT systems in
their own languages and derive the benefits of enhanced productivity and
better quality of life through good governance.
Word Processors for all Indian languages, Sanskrit based knowledge
tools, Websites in Indian languages, translation tools and many more.
by the ways in which information technology is being used in
governing villages, and of course municipalities and towns with the
ongoing process of implementing local governance the ‘e-future’ of
India looks bright.
