ABSTRACT
This is a prototype project for a 2 level car parking system using PIC microcontroller. It is a mechatronics project where we combine the knowledge of mechanical and electrical and electronics in the project .The objectives of this project were to design and implement an elevator with DC motor which carries a pinion wheel it is laid on a rack system for linear movements for y axis another dc motor with an arm is attached to the rack system this motor is for linear radial movements along x axis. The elevator should be able to fetch car and move up and down follow an input instructions from sensors and relays based on the logic programmed in the micro controller it should park and retrieve the object back to the home position. Entire system is monitored by lab view software 2013.

PROBLEM STATEMET
It is known, the land is becoming less but the population of human is growing day by day. This scenario is very obvious in modern developed cities. Therefore, land is very limited and spaces need to be saved in every aspect of life. By building an automated parking system which allows high space utilisation, less space is needed compared to the conventional car park. This is because in the automated car park, the parking space can be more compact by having vehicles parked nearer to each other and also less space is required for runways or paths in the parking space as vehicles are transferred to parking spaces using elevators and conveyers. Thus, optimized usage of spaces can be achieved.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES
1. To make a more secure system in car park. This car parking system can decreases the risk of robbery that normally can occur in regular parking lots. 2. The drivers will remain safe because the process of parking would only take a short time. 3. To create a car park environment that is safer than ramp-style parking facilities. This is because in a conventional garage, drivers will risk vehicle damage, theft and personal injury during parking their car. 4. To save the customers time and more convenient. User would not have to take long walks to or from their car, look for parking spaces, memorize where the car was parked, or spend time waiting for elevators and climbing stairs. 5. People simply leave their car at the entrance to the parking structure, and the system will handles the rest. 6. To create a more user-friendly parking system. User should not have a problem to use the system and the system also can provide a few important features to user.

PROJECT SCOPE
The scope of this project is to develop a prototype of an automated parking system which is able to park and retrieve the vehicle by itself even without the driver. All the movements needed to transport a vehicle in the automated parking system are controlled using PIC microcontroller as it is the controller in this system. Programming for PIC is done in software named MP LAB IDE V8.33 by using EMBEDDED C. Besides programming, entire setup is designed in NI LABVIEW software for monitoring purpose.

BLOCK DIAGRAM

METHODOLOGY
comprises of power supply unit which is connected to the sensors and field devices by means of a regulator IC and the microcontroller gets power logic is programmed in the controller accordingly the microcontroller sends the control signals via ULN 2803 driver IC, this drives the relay circuit connected.Relays make the switching operation for the dc motor to rotate in clock or counter clock wise direction. Serial communication is done by max 232 Ic which makes it to communicate the field devices with the labview software on the pc side.

LITERATURE REVIEW
[1]Anjith paul EEO2133 (2002), proposed INTELLIGENT CAR PARKING SYSTEM in which he proposed a prototype model of a rack type car parking system with an objective to identify the parking lot space by means of sensors counts of the cars is calculated and when it is fully occupied the system wont allow the car to enter unless a car leaves the lot. [2]Lina lo (2008), proposed PLC BASED CAR PARKING SYSTEM which automatically parks the vehicle by means of ladder programming using cx programmer which is a simulation model of the car parking system . This system made an effective outcome of solving the car parking issues. Inference: The above two projects helped us to learn about the sensors system, the need for automated parking system, system integration and motivated us to carry out this project.

CONCLUSION
The project thus gives a complete car parking and monitoring system thus by reducing space requirement for car paking and economicaly reducing the cost spent on car parking buildings also reducing fuel consumption and the car emission rate during parking and time is consumed.

FUTURE SCOPE
This system can be upgraded with advanced fuzzy logic controllers, PLC etc. For better automation and this concept could be implemented in commercial lifts in all buildings, shopping malls, etc car management can be fully automated with sensors and computer networking can be connected with data base system which maintains all the entry and exit reports for security purposes.
