 It is the lympho hematogenous spread of

tuberculous infection from primary focus


or later stages of TB.
 Spread may occur to systemic organs.
 Spread is either by entry of infection into
pulmonary vein producing disseminated
or isolated organ lesion in different
pulmonary sites. (E.g. spleen, kidney ,
liver) or into pulmonary artery restricting
the development of miliary lesion within
the lung
 Miliary lesions are millet seed size
yellowish firm areas without grossly
visible caseation necrosis
 Microscopicaly the miliary lesions shows
the structure of tubercles with minute
areas of caseation necrosis
